Even though I only had Kenzie for a few months, she was the best dog I ever had.
Kenzie completed puppy kindergarten at the top of her class and was on her way to getting her CGC.
One of her favorite things to do was swim. I remember a perticular day in August where I couldn't get her out of the water. It didn't help that her friends wouldn't come out either. But my friend and I let them play until they were ready to come out.
I will miss her very very much.
Oh sweetie, I'm so sorry.

It seems it doesn't matter how long they're in our lives, if even for a few short months, the loss is heavy and heartbreaking.

Godspeed Kenzie.

My thoughts are with you -

Re: Kenzie lost her battle with Parvo

Thank you all for your support during this tough time.
For the longest time I blamed myself for her death. I kept telling myself "I should of done this or that".
It just really pisses me off because I see people who leave their dogs tied outside, never take them to see a vet, never train them, and never spend any time with them and THEY are the ones who have dogs that live 13+ years.
I have waited for Kenzie for YEARS. I finally bought a house and was able to get her and she had to be taken from me so soon. WHY DID THIS HAVE TO HAPPEN TO A SWEET PUPPY WHO NEVER DID ANYTHING WRONG??? There are horrible people who walk this world and do terrible things but they never get punished!!! NO!
I'm sorry but I had to vent. Anger combined with being pregnant with twins equals me angry at the world about this. Maybe I'm just in the anger part of the greiving. I just miss her so much.

Your anger is so totally understandable. Sometimes it is just impossible to get the "why" in how things happen. It surely seems unfair to me too.
I pray for your continued healing and hope you are remembering...you will be together again...and til then it is puppy games galore for your girlie.

Nope, you did nothing wrong.....parvo is everywhere and Kenzie's immune system just couldn't take the hit. None of that puts any fault on you at all.

You have every right to be angry, and all those changing hormones you've got while pregnant are probably having a field day with this. It's heartbreaking to lose a dog, and especially so when it's an innocent puppy who you loved dearly and had dreams of living your life with.

Someday, and I say this from experience, there will be another little black and tan with an eye on you. Until then, be kind to yourself.

Re: Kenzie lost her battle with Parvo

I am very sorry for you, and I can understand your pain, anger, and frustration as my family lost one of our puppies to parvo as well many years ago (Arco). Parvo is a very cruel illness and can bring you on one helleuva rollercoaster ride; however, know that you did not do anything wrong and you had no control over it. Remember the times you did have with your little one, cherrish those memories, and when you are ready another little one will enter your life again.

Re: Kenzie lost her battle with Parvo

It is a part of the greiving process, I know how you feel as we all would feel the same. There are many different emotions that we go through. One of which is blame. We look in ourselves and keep going over what happened and see if we can blame ourselves. We can't. Most on this network are very responsible owners and would do anything humanly possible to make sure our babies are ok. The odds are stacked against us sometimes, which yes is not FAIR. Especially for one so young and so loved!! I mean that. I lost my Ceasar last Monday at 11 and I am going through every emotion but was so fortunate to have had him so long. Of course I will tell you it doesn't make it one ounce easier. However I know what you are saying and my heart goes out to you, and I know you are not just talking that it was not fair for you, it was not fair to Kenzie. She will be ok and all our angel babies will watch over her. She will be much loved until you see her again. Try to calm down and try to get rid of this part, the blame and anger part. Try to move onto the beautiful memories that you shared for even the short time. You know when you have a baby it is love at first site on both parts. So it was for you and your Kenzie. She new she was loved and that counts for the world!!! God Love you and good luck w/your twins. Sincerely, D. Ervin

Re: Kenzie lost her battle with Parvo

We are very alike in the fact that we lost our puppy Bruce in August to parvo. He was only 5 months old. I am still very sad about it. We did everything right just like you. For some reason this was the plan. It's not fair.
Please know that your puppy was loved and well taken care of and had the best possible life.

I bet our pups are playing together healthy and strong.
I will be thinking of you! I'm so very sorry for your loss.
