RIP Raiden

I am so devastated - my baby boy was diagnosed with osteosarcoma 4 months ago - and this past Sunday I had to make the toughest decision of my life. He was 7 1/2 years old. I am completely lost, have no idea how to deal with this. How do you move on? He was my first pet and I loved him so much...

Re: RIP Raiden

So sorry for the loss of your boy. From my personal experience, the feelings are as intense as those for the loss of a parent or friend. You will feel pain and sorrow at first which will give its place to nostalgia and eventually sweet memory. Have a peaceful journey sweet Raiden.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Our canine companions do not live long enough. They find a place in our hearts, become part of our lives, and then they're gone. I am so sorry.

I feel your pain as I had to go through the same decision not too long ago. the only thing that comes to mind that helped me was remembering all the fun times we had together. the times we came home exhausted and feel asleep together on the floor, cuddling up with each other, etc.

There are no words to ease the pain....but judging by the "happy" expression on the picture you posted he had a wonderful life and knew how much he was loved and cared for.....sorry seems so inadequate....fly on your new wings big boy...whole...happy and healthy once again....Tina

I am so sorry to hear about your loss! You are in my thoughts...you never really get over the loss but can remember the happy times you had together and know that he is no longer in pain but playing with all the rottie angels we have lost.

RIP Raiden

I am so sorry for your loss. As was said, it is never long enough that we are privileged to have them.

As time goes by, the pain will turn to blessed memories. Keep them and cherish them and allow a new dog to come into your life to make his spot in your heart when you are ready.

What a beautiful boy. I know...as many do here how your heart aches. It is a loss of unbelievable magnitude. In time your saddened heart will begin to fill with memories that bring back smiles. Until then I hope knowing we all understand and are here for you helps a little.
RIP Raiden

Re: RIP Raiden

I do know how sad you are feeling. You were so generous and brave to not let your sweet boy suffer. You are so right, it's such an awful decision to have to make. (I had to do it twice in my life). When we lost our rottie girl Sheena Marie, I didn't think I would ever get over the loss. She was my heart dog and I still miss her. I learned that time does help to heal. After a year, we got Lola. She is one crazy gal. I love her so differently. I just never knew how much my heart could stretch and I learned that death does not end a love or a relationship. As a dog lover, I am so grateful knowing that my dogs will never have to suffer.
Your boy trusted you and you gave him the greatest gift you could give. A wonderful life of knowing love and warmth, never being afraid or hungry, He knew companionship and he knew at your hand, he would never suffer. You were the best dog parent you could be.You now have a Rottie angel to watch over you. I promise, you will smile again when in time, you remember the funny things he did to make you laugh.
Rest in peace sweet boy, I am sending thoughts to our Sheena to find you and show you the way.
I am so sorry for your loss. Keep posting your feelings, we are all here to help you get through this time.
Jane

Re: RIP Raiden

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.

Love trancends life. Your love for Raiden lives on.
You gave him your final act of love in knowing when to let go and free him from pain. I don't think you ever get over it but you learn to live with in. You will remember the good times as your pain eases.
Godspeed Raiden.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss, it is such a difficult thing to go through. These dogs become such a part of our lives, and of us. You made the kindest decision to let him go, and he is free. Now he is your Rottie Angel.
