Re: RIP Raiden

I am so very sorry to hear of your loss. many hugs and good thoughts for you during this most difficult time.

We put our lab down last week...my 5 year old is quite devastated (as we all are but my son and I are most devastated and we cry--if anyone brings him up he tells us to "stop talking about him because you are making me sad" and then proceeds to cry). we talk about all the funny memories and we honestly go from crying to laughing and giggling. it's really helped me to heal this way. I started talking about happy things about our lab for my son and it helped me sooo much...because I was truly giggling over the silly things he did. but we grieve in our own ways.

many hugs.

Re: RIP Raiden

Thank you all once again for those kind words. Its been 5 days; I don't remember much of them; everything is still as fresh as if it happened a moment ago. Numb from the grief and tears - you get to a stage where you've cried so much you can't anymore. We have a little niece that comes to visit and she certainly knows how to lighten up the day - she's making the days more colourfull...but its day-by-day, moment-by-moment living at this stage. There are times when one feels too guilty to feel anything except grief and sorrow - you find that you just cannot enjoy things that you did before..I'm sure all this will be resolved in time...but damn they leave a big black hole in one's soul don't they. It must be really sad on my other rottie - Attila - they were inseperable for all those years...suddenly Raiden's not around. Well Attila is eating fine, getting plenty attention and getting a bit spoilt...they say it takes a dog about 7 days to get used to a new routine..I hope that's true. Once again thank you for all your support and very tearful comments at times. Hard lesson this - impermanence of all beings.

Re: RIP Raiden

So sorry for your loss of Raiden, know that you are not alone in your feelings. OS is one nasty horrible disease that no one animal or person deserves to endure. I lost my 9yo to OS December 2006 and I still miss her terribly every single day. I am now battling the disease with my 10yo male. I hope in time your heart will begin to heal and only happy memories remain. Hugs to you and your family.

Run painfree at rainbow bridge sweet Raiden!!
