Thumbs down my rottie died

hey everyone! i have a 2 yr old female rottie that just passed away. she became very sick friday night and we took her to the vet saturday morning they ran test and said that she might have been poisoned because her kidneys were shutting down. well we left her there and they flushed her kidneys and ran tons of antibiotics through her. but unfortunately her vet called us about 11:00 pm last night and said she did not make it. it is a very hard thing to deal with she was like my baby. she was one of us, not just a dog. i just needed to share this with people who might understand and know how i'm feeling. they are doing an autopsy this morning to find out exactly what it was. she had been inside for about the last 2 weeks and we can't figure out where or what she could have gotten into. we were constantly watching her. it does not make any sense.

Re: my rottie died

I am so very sorry bonnie78.
It had to be such a shock to get such bad news about your girl.
You don't think she could have drank any antifreeze from your garage or elsewhere around your house?
That is the one thing that came to mind when you said her kidneys were shutting down.
I hope you get answers soon...

Re: my rottie died

So sorry to hear this! My thoughts are with you. Have you checked the foods, treats etc? There seems to be more and more products on the market that aren't on a recall but should be. Another member posted similar circumstances yesterday and it is felt due to treats she bought from Costco. Yes, they were from China so check your cabinets.

Re: my rottie died

Moz205 thanks for posting that. I was also going to suggest that. You might want to take a look at this thread: http://www.rottweiler.net/forums/vet...ken-jerky.html another member just went through the same thing. Let us know if you have such treats.

I am VERY sorry about your girl. I cannot imagine the shock of such a young dog dying so quickly. You are in our thoughts.

Re: my rottie died

jlaack, thanks for helping me out with that one. I'm fairly good with the computer but there are just some things I can't do without looking foolish! Like I said, nothing coming into my house made in China.

No worries! I felt the whole thread gave a good explanation and may help out the vets a little.

I am so sorry to hear that, and it also makes me mad that these things happen at all to our pets.

Re: my rottie died

It is very sad to read about the loss of your girl and at such a young age. Because of you I just checked all of my food/treat containers to make sure they didn't have 'Made in China' in small print somewhere on the label! My heart goes out to you and your family for your loss!

Re: my rottie died

It's so unfair to lose such a young dog so unexpectedly. I'm very curious to find out what poisoned her, could it be chlorine or detergent?
