| Remembering a Best Friend Every day, I look at photo's of my late Eiko, and wonder how he would look today. I wonder just how much we could have accomplished together. Just in his short 2 1/2 years, Eiko helped educated hundreds of children, made special appearances at events, and brought smiles to our veterans faces. Tomorrow, Eiko would have turned six. To this day, it is hard to comprehend he is gone. It is even harder to comprehend why he is gone after these years. Every one tries to console people who have lost their companion with the words "time heals." Even I have typed and spoken those words to several; however, time has not healed a thing. Loosing Eiko has been the deepest cut I have felt, and the pain is still there today as it was of the morning I received the phone call that my best friend had left me. The only thing we have now are our wonderful and very proud memories of him, and for that, I am very grateful. My family was given a very special gift packaged in black and mahogany who had a heart of gold, grace, and a spirit that will always surround us. I know I was one helluva lucky lady to have had the distinct honor in owning such a fine true character, and noble ambassador of our breed. In loving memory of Oakview's Phenomenon, "Eiko", CGC, Therapy Dog We love and miss you! Happy Birthday!

| Re: Remembering a Best Friend "Time does not heal a thing" You know, I am finding this true as well..What I do know is that as time goes by, I have learned how to live each day without Max by my side. Each day hurts, I still can't speak of his passing without crying, but I am able to remember the good times. My heart goes out to you as I really do know how you feel. ![]()

| Re: Remembering a Best Friend I'm right there with you. I know the feeling of not having my girl. She left in 04. We have Lola and I do love her very much but, I still can't talk about Sheena Marie with out butsting into tears. She too was a therapy dog and I was so proud of her. Her kindness and gentle spirit stays with me always. Eiko was your heart dog, the one who touches your soul and still hugs your heart. Happy Birthday sweet sweet boy!! You are very much remembered. |

| Re: Remembering a Best Friend I do understand your pain oh too well. (RIP SAMSON 10-07-06) and I am so very sorry for your premature loss of Eiko and the pain that creates for you. A little different slant to consider...... Time is like a scab on a wound...it takes time but it does heal. It is the scar that never goes away. Remember that scar has good memories as well as the painful ones. Better to have the scar and all that entails good and bad than to have never had the experience, I think. Happy Birthday Eiko sounds like you were a blessing and one extraordinary fella! It's evident you were all you could be and more for your short time here on earth and I am sure you are continuing the tradition at the bridge. Last edited by Sam's Mom; 08-26-2007 at 05:22 PM. | Re: Remembering a Best Friend I too understand about time. Raven has been gone just nine months now and I still have nights after going to bed when I get tears in my eyes thinking of her. There has not been one day gone by that she isn't in my mind. I think some of it is that she passed away in my bedroom not long before I had come home from work. I was not there with her when she passed away. Not there to hold her and tell her goodbye and how much I love her. Yes, I told her every day that I loved her and every time before I leave the house whether for work or whatever I always have and still do tell all of my dogs goodbye and that I love them. Because of that I know those were the last words she heard from me. But it is still that I could not hold her when her time came. I tell myself that my Brandy was there in the bedroom with her at the time even though I don't know if she was. Yes, I understand how you feel just as the others who have lost their precious furbabies.

| Re: Remembering a Best Friend Thank you for your kind words and understanding. I know I will see him again; someday. Sadly, I found out this morning that Eiko's Dam, Crystal's Ivory v Ponca crossed the bridge a few days ago. Mother and son are together again. The circle of life keeps rolling................

| I am so honored to have gotten to meet Eiko. You should be very proud of not only him, but yourselves for all the good you were able to do in his short time. Although it was short, it was outstanding nonetheless. I am so sorry and I don't have any words that will make the hurt go away. I know Eiko is smiling down on you until you meet again.:

| Re: Remembering a Best Friend I couldn't agree more. Lots of dog kisses and Rottie leaning. I hope we are all young and healthy and able to hold up all of those Rottie style hugs. LOL Until then..... |
