Until then, Mr. Long Leggs...

On Saturday, June 16, 2007 I sent Ollie to the rainbow bridge.

On Sunday, June 10th I gave him a sample of raw food and he started vomiting about an hour later. Monday morning I took him to my vet, he said that he was slightly dehydrated, gave him fluids, an anti-nausea med, checked films (clear, showing only gas) and diagnosed him as having food posioning.

on Wednesday, at the advice of my vet, I took Ollie to the emergency vet and he was diagnosed with pancretitis. He stayed there until Friday evening trying to get him to turn around. We thought we had made a turn for the better...we were wrong.

Saturday morning we woke up to an even sicker dog. Returned to our vet and left without him.

I have been blessed to have two "one-in-a-million" dogs in my life, Elmo and then Ollie. I am sure some of you remember me "fostering" him starting at six weeks...he even made an appearance at the 2005 Wisconsin rottstock. He was such an amazing dog with an easy, loving personality.

My big man with the even bigger personality has left a huge hole in my heart...both Lavender and I are heartbroken...but we are muddling through.

I love you, Long Leggs...may you never stop chewing on your tennis ball. I will see you in my dreams.

Re: Until then, Mr. Long Leggs...

Beth,

I'm so sorry to hear about Ollie.... He's watching over you now, although he's busy with Elmo (who no doubt thinks he is watching over you just fine, too) and all his new friends.

You and Lavender will help each other through this.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your Ollie.
He went so fast! It must be truly heartbreaking for you.
As I am finding out - it seems to take a long time for the hurt to subside a little. I am glad you have Lavender to help you.
RIP Ollie - fly high with the angels...

I am sorry to hear of your loss, it's always so hard to lose them. He sounds like a great boy, and you sound like a great owner, and you did the kindest thing for him in the end. He is your Rottie Angel now.
