Final resting place!!

What did you choose as your loved ones final resting place? I still have Manny's ashes in a box I'm not sure what I want to do with them. In a way I think I should bury them under a shady tree at my parents, but then I think he hated the wind and would hate to be outside when it's windy. Sounds odd as he'd no longer feel anything. So for the time being I'll keep his ashes with me.

Eliza, I think it would be a lovely memorial to your Manny to sprinkle his ashes along his favourite walk. Over the paths he couldn't wait to get to when the leash came out of hiding and at the base of all those trees he sniffed and peed on. I'm sure he'd love to be there now and would enjoy it just the same.

It is not my Lady-B's time yet but in my mind I have this plan. She will be cremated and her ashes will be given back to the place she loved most. The place where we spent many joy filled moments; the place where she ran, jumped and played with other dogs; the place where we played tug-o-war and she dumped me in the water; the place where she barked with the sea lions and nuzzled baby seals; the place where she taught herself to swim. The beach at Alki in Seattle. I can think of no other fitting way than to give her back to what she loved most.

We decided to bury our Bear in a part of our yard that has a lot of sunshine, and once I'm finished he will have a wide variety of roses to look down upon everyday.I think his favorites will be the yellow ones with red swirls.I would like to also plant a red fern at the front of his cross. Then when he looks down he will know that we haven't forgotten about our Bear.Sandie

Our Medusa is under my soon to be flower bed. She loved to supervise my gardening activities so we thought that would be appropriate. When the flower bed is built we have a Rott statue that will mark the spot.

There's a gentle slope on one side of our back yard from which you can look down on the beaver pond and beyond the pond, out across to the big, sunny field. If you turn around, you see you're in the back yard. Riga will be buried here. It's very close to the house and right by the path we walk the dogs every day down to the field. We'll get to talk to her daily as we walk by.

Our two beloved rotties are sitting on our mantle waiting to go with us. Rambo in with my husband and Gretta in with me. They never left our sides and were most comfortable with each of us. These instructions are left very well engraved in the minds of anyone who knows us. With this we will never be separated!

Our Hammer is resting under the shade of a young White Pine Tree. His grandson Trouper is next to him. The site overlooks the kennel area. Hammer keeps a watch over his childen and mate (Sadie). His body may be buried, but his memories are with me forever.

We have buried our dogs on a piece of our land under some pine trees that we often pass on our way out for a walk. I planted some wildflowers I dug up elsewhere and planted a rhodadenrum (sp?) bush nearby. It is very peaceful there.

How nice that you could either bury a beloved Rottie or else keep the ashes--I could do neither. On February 25, l999, there was a fire in my home fifteen minutes after I left the house to go to class. A friend and neighbor had the school call me out of class to return home because of an undisclosed emergency. I arrived to find my three year old Rottie and 12 y/o Siamese cat dead. The German shepherd, only five months older than my three year old female Rottie escaped through the dog door in time.
There was not a mark on Bridget or my cat, Twit--they died of smoke inhalation, which I am told is very q2uick. Animal control was on the scene along with police, firemen, victim assistance folks, Red Cross. Everything in the house was destroyed either by the fire or the smoke, but all I could think of was that my Rottie and cat were dead.

Animal Control would not let me leave my animals until I\could locate my vet to pick them up to be cremated; they insisted thay had to take the bodies, and that they couldn't cremate them and return the ashes to me. So, there's been no real closure.

Bridget was a sweet, trained and loving gal...all 125 lbs of her---big.,big she was.

Let this be my memorial of sorts to her and the cat, Twit. It's crushing to lose a pet--a year prior to the fire, my 13 and 1/2 yellow Lab had to be put down because of multiple age-related health problems. She raised the puppies. Have put a deposit on a male Rottie born 2/10/2000--if he has the stable and loving temperament of Bridget, I'll consider myself very lucky for a change.

Hi,
Haven't posted for awhile . I lost my Nikki in June and I can't dispose of her ashes. They sit in a box under my bathroom sink. I take them out and put them right back. I guess I'm not ready either.

So sorry to read of your loss. It just does not seem fare that we have to loose our pets in such a tragic way. My sincere wishes for better times are with you. This is for Twitem and the family. Take care and better days!

KatheyT good to see your back at the board. I no longer of course have my Rotti but now an 8 month old Westie pup, but still check out the posts daily. Good to hear you're back.

Our boy Titan's ashes are part of a memorial that we have constructed for him in our den. We have a collection of all of his pictures on a bookshelf and hanging on the wall. We have him in all stages of life. From 7 weeks to 11.5 years. His ashes are in a very nice cedar box with gold lock and key. They are out on display and will probably remain there for as long as I am around. Sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. It is a very hard time to go through.I wish you the best
