It has been 2 weeks since the passing of my Dudley. He would have been 8 yrs old on Valentines day. He was a big sweetheart and the family misses him greatly. Dudley developed pancreatitis and died after a week in the hospital. At first my vet thought he had a gastric infection because he had gotten into trash and swollowed the bottom wrapper from a chicken container. Unfortunately, he did not get well after passing the plastic and 2 days on antiboitics. We had to rush him to the animal hospital. He only got worse when it moved to his gallblatter. He was in such bad pain, and on heavy medication. After speaking with each family member, we had to make the horrible decission to have him put to sleep. I was with him at the end when he just closed his eyes and was finally out of pain. I never want to have to do such a thing again. Please, if you read this, please make sure you keep your dog away from the trash can and away from fatty foods. The vet said fats are the main cause for this illness. It doesn't take much to bring it on and it takes the life of more than 80% of it's victims. And it happens before you know it. Rotties are highly proned this this condition. We loved Dudley and know you love your rottie just as much. please heed this warning. Our family's prayers for a long healthy life for your pups.
