| My little 'Medusa' In memory of my little Medusa who died tragically in such a short time, at such a young age. Medusa was purchased from a pet store two days after we bought 'Conan' (her brother). That night (three hours after we got her from the pet store) she prove not to be as resilient as her brother when her health went downhill. I knew something was up...her eyes were pleading...she was listless and her coat was dry. There were signs of Diahhrea and vomiting. My partner and I picked her up and sped down in an emergency, to the Pet hospital in the next town, where she was given'fluid balls,' to stop her from dehydrating. Then told to take her home and put her somewhere where she wouldn't be disturbed by her brother (who only wanted to play!!) I was beside her all night, making sure she was comfortable. I was worried as hell for this little pup. The next morning, I was up early to check on her...the mess that greeted me in the kitchen horrified me. It was the kind of mess that told me that my pup was a goner. I was in a panic. Medusa was still alive though....watching me with sad eyes. This time, we all rushed down to the vet where she was to stay for treatment over night. The next day, my partner rang to let me know that Medusa had passed away. To cut a long story short...she had been staying at a vet for two days prior to being purchased by us. Apparently she was still sick when we got her....although she showed no signs of any illness except for a dry coat. What got me so mad was that, the vet shouldn't have allowed her to go back to the store to join her siblings. To this day, we still don't know what he had died from...the same vet wouldn't tell us (not our local vet). Medusa is now buried under an Ornamental Cherry tree in our front yard where Conan and newcomer, Stellar goes out to play. You can bet that I will never forget the horrible experiences and the look in Medusa's eyes...every now and again when I watched the other pups plays...I would remember her in sadness. http://www.rottweiler.net/rottie/frown.gif [This message has been edited by rebelgal7 (edited October 20, 2000).] |
