Daisy with her beautiful tail 2/19/2007

I hope when my time comes I can pass as peacefully and quickly as my dear Daisy. She basically slept away with her head in my lap. We had a wonderful day Sunday – our grown children came for brunch, we played with Daisy in the yard, Daisy rode shotgun for me when I went to the store.

By early evening she was too quiet and fairly unresponsive and by 4 AM, she was gone. Not a whimper. We should all be so lucky.

Daisy 9/28/2000 until 2/19/2007. RIP big girl.

Re: Daisy with her beautiful tail 2/19/2007

Nancy...I sit here in shock...As tears roll down my face, I am at a loss for words. Daisy has always been and always will be the one I too think of as "the beautiful tailed rottie". I wish that there was something I could say to ease the pain. I am so very sorry that you lost your girlie...She was met at the bridge by many that have preceded her...and I'm certain my Sasha was at the front of the line. Our rotties come into our lives and bring us such joy, and when they leave there is an emptiness that words cannot describe. She left you with such cherished memories, treasure them as they will bring you comfort on the darkest of days ahead. My heart aches for you...I will keep you and your family in my daily thoughts and prayers. Godspeed sweet Daisy...Fly on your wings of gold...

Oh Nancy my heart just breaks for you. This is so shocking....

Your girl will be with you always; how could she ever truly leave the one who loved her so much?

You'll be in my thoughts.

Re: Daisy with her beautiful tail 2/19/2007

We are not 100% positive, but the vet's guess is heart failure. She basically shut down over about ten hours. Her eyes were half closed, her feet got cold, she didn't "grumble" when I scratched her ears or chest. We wrapped her in blankets but she got colder and colder.

She had a physical four weeks ago when she had her teeth cleaned that included a complete blood panel. The vet said she was in great shape. Her mother died of heart/kidney failure at age four. So we knew there were potential issues.

I am just so thankful it was quick and that we were there with her. She has the shiniest teeth in heaven.

Oh, I am so very sorry for your loss of Daisy. What a peaceful way to go - I had hoped my Sheena would go that way, but it was not to be. Far too many of our fur kids have gone to the rainbow bridge lately. Daisy was just seven years old - seems so young. I can just "hear" the love you had for Daisy. I am sure she had a wonderful life with you and your family. Many memories to keep in your heart. She certainly is not alone. My Rotties Buddy, Cheyenne and Sheena are no doubt keeping her company! God speed Daisy - fly free...

Oh, I am so sorry!! At least she didn't suffer long if at all. So sorry for your sudden loss. Just terrible.

To think my dog can possibly go any day from his SAS it if progresses, its not likely, but he can.

Were any echocardiograms ever done on the mom? SOunds like something genetic, SAS, Cardiomyopathy? Was she coughing at all?
