In Memory of Sasha...

My Dearest Sasha,

One year ago today, I listened to your heart as it beat for the last time. My head rested against your warm chest, as you took your last breath. I ran my fingers through your hair as I clipped a piece to cherish…the small twist of white framed by mahogany…your favorite spot. From the time you arrived in my home at the tender age of 3 months, we were inseparable until you took that final walk and journey to the bridge alone. We walk separate paths now…but one day they will rejoin in a glorious celebration.

Our time together was not long enough…we only celebrated 7 birthdays. In those short years, you carved out a spot in my heart that no other can hold a candle to. You taught me how wonderfully special the “little things” can be as you guided me to the strength I needed to release you from this world’s pain. You showed me how to comprehend “unconditional love”. I treasure the precious memories our hearts continue to share and although cancer shortened our days together…it can never undermine the bond that seamlessly binds us. You came to hold me on Jan 4th …a very difficult day to remember…the day I learned cancer ravaged your body, but it didn’t get your soul…I felt you…I know that whenever I need you, just stop and listen with my heart and I will hear you speaking to it.

My 1st girlie…Everyday you brought me so much joy. Thank you for helping my life to mend by bringing me a sweet little girl to love…a rescue like you…one that needed me as much as I needed her…ironically named Sasha’s Déjà Vu…your legacy lives on. She has helped this old heart to heal and be at peace. Life without you is different…Time has helped immensely but I still miss you tremendously. You are always with me and your memory lives on…

Until the day we meet again,
I love you,
Mom

(Pics of her at 3 months and 7 years are posted in the Gallery...)

Arlene, I cant stop crying. What wonderful memories that you and Sasha shared. She will always be there. The pain does dull over time. But your memories will remain. My Thor and I are sending warm thoughts and many hugs your way.

That was so beautiful. It gave me that heart pain in my chest, that you know only too well.
