Goodbye my shmoopy

I lost my Sasha two weeks ago tomorrow, and like so many of the other postings I've read, it's taken me until now to be able to write. We had 10 great years with her, she was funny, and loving and sweet as most of her fellow rotties are. I miss her terribly.

I am new to this whole chat thing, but felt compelled to touch base with other rott lovers, as we are a very special bunch.

I am so sorry for your loss. Ten years is a good long life. But we never have them long enough. Please accept my deepest sympathy.

Re: Goodbye my shmoopy

I am so very sorry for your loss....My Sasha met your Sasha at the bridge. She will be surrounded by so many wonderful rotties that have preceded her...Let time help your heart to heal and the 10 years of treasured memories console you. She will always be with you in spirit as she is now your "rottie angel"...I know that my Sasha is always with me, and I'm sure yours will be also. My heart breaks for you knowing the pain that you are enduring...time will help...her spirit will soar with the angels as she flies on her wings of gold...My thoughts and prayers are with you....

I am sorry for your loss. I hope you find consolation in knowing she had the best life she could have had because she was your dog. You and she were lucky to have been a team.

Thanks everyone, it really helps knowing there's others out there who understand how much a part of your family a rott is, and what a hole it leaves in your heart when they go "over the rainbow bridge".

Re: Goodbye my shmoopy

Ten years, you both were very blessed.I know how difficult it is to actually post about your loss but, you have taken a brave step forward. So many here, my self included, understand the special bond between a rottie and her mom. When I lost Sheena also 10, I said never again. I never wanted to love another animal as much as I loved that girl. As time passed, I began to think differently. What if it was a tribute to such a fine dog, to have another in her honor? Would she want me to help another rottie the way we saved her? It took a year and now we have Lola. I was hoping she would have a totally different personality. And she does, she is a little witch bad as she is beautiful and she is very pretty.
The comfort I am trying to give, is to let you know that your heart will heal. No dog will ever be the same and that is a good thing because she will always be the most special. Death does not end a love or a relationship. The wonderful memories are there for a lifetime. Please post so we can help during this difficult time.

I am so very sorry. She runs with the best of them now. I know how you feel. I just lost my boy (10 years old as well) just 3 1/2 weeks ago. He was my very best friend. But I could not let him suffer. He is in a much better place now, free of pain. I think of him and smile, though my heart aches, his body no longer does. Best wishes to you and yours. RIP sweet girl.

Re: Goodbye my shmoopy

We also got a diagnosis of bone canser for our guy Samson on tuesday and so very quickly (5 days) just yesterday we knew it was time for him to move on to cross the Rainbow bridge. Laying at his dad's feet being pet and with me his Mom nose to nose kissing and hugging him on his favorite blanket we went as far as we could go with him. It was very peaceful for him. I "so" understand right where you are and am deeply sorry. I share in your pain..wish I could give you a hug!! You did the right thing...as we did but...it will take time to heal the pain for us all. Thank God we have this place to talk about our babies. Rotties rock!!!!
