Premium Red is going to the Bridge

Premium Red is my niece's first horse and he got her started in her current career of horse trainer. His name was just Red when her Grandpa gave him to her and she transformed this ranch horse into a Dressage Champion. He then needed a new name befitting his new status and I came up with Premium Red (yes from the alcoholic drink) and it stuck!

He was 8 when she got him and he is now 31 and it is time for him to be at peace. So, I'm leaving work now to be with her while she takes to him the vet so he can finally rest.

The vet told her when she first got him that he had the strongest heart he had ever "seen" and if his heart had anything to do with it he would live forever. Well, he tried, 31 is really old for a quarter horse and he accomplished more than anyone ever thought he would!

He will be missed by quite a few Pony Clubbers and our family! Fly high Red and give Baron a lick on the nose for me!

Re: Premium Red is going to the Bridge

I am so sorry to hear this.... I have a 21 year old mare and a 26 year old mare, one I bred and one I've owned since she was three. I've been where you are before (with an elderly much loved gelding and with the dam of the 21 year old), and with my sister's show horse, and will be there again.

Fly free, big Red. Lots of great ones up there waiting for you.

Re: Premium Red is going to the Bridge

Steph has a 24 year old quarter hourse that she loves dearly. I am so sorry for the loss but Premium Red, with the love, care and training of your niece has achieved much - He is a tribute to her dedication. He will be Premium Red Pegasus - God speed noble horse. Psst! Say hi to Crommie, Neemo, Daisy, Spike and Zorro! (He will be one busy Horse Angel with all the Hellos he has to deliver).

Re: Premium Red is going to the Bridge

Premium Red, say "Hi and neigh" to our dear horses Brownie, Sunshine, Juno and Gypsy (she just left us 3/16/2006) who are running and kicking up their heels young again at the Bridge. Gypsy will give big slobbery kisses and you'll know it's her when she sneezes right into your face. Run free, dear Red.
