My Sweet Little Nyla Girl's on the Bridge.

Nyla was sadly diagnosed with nuerological deficiencies with a possibility of "water on the brain" (can't recall medical term, hydracephalitis?) in addition to not ever drinking any water, she was exhibiting stunted growth, unsteadyness on her feet, anemia, possible vision loss, pacing, and deep sleeping to the point of incontinence. The Vet was pretty certain she had a condition from birth of "prosystemic liver shunt" tested for same and was surprised to find her blood CBC did not support that diagnosis. The vet indicated she felt certain her symptons indicated serious nuerological damage. We nursed her along as long as reasonable and feasible on the goat's milk diluted with water (she never did drink any plain water), gave her 7 months of a loving dedicated home. Today she exhibited the first signs of labored breathing, muscle spasms, extreme weakness, I was surprised how very quickly she was playing one minute and unable to breath the next. I knew her situation was serious and rushed her to the Vet, we discussed the impossibility of treatments, quality of her life and I made the difficult decision to help her little sweet life continue on Rainbow Bridge.

Now as many of my Rotti lovers have experienced, my head tells me all the right decisions were made with love and my heart aches with the empty place Nyla occupied for 7 months, time will heal.

Thanks for all the wonderful loving advice, support, encouragements and understanding shared in many of the posted and private emails.

God bless.
Steve

I'm so sorry for your loss. Oh MY! What a heartache this must be for you. Treasure up in your heart your memories of her and eventually there will be a time you'll consider them a blessing.
