My Baby Boy Barkley has now Crossed

For 3 and a half years he was my pride and joy. So much energy and playfulness that nothing could contain him. Nothing except Cancer! When we found out he had Cancer, we let him go. Suffering through the treatments was never an option. He lived and died with the dignity that he deserved. He was always Loyal to the family and we returned that Loyalty to Him! I went through denial, bargining, anger and finally acceptance in one visit to my vet. I brought him in for what I thought was a reaction to his pain medication for his knees and carried and buried my bay boby the same evening. He was too young to die!!! I just found this website as a way to help myself through the grief that I'm feeling now. So many others stories have touched me in a way I can't express in my words. Thank you all for your stories as it is helping me prepare to live without Barkley and knowing that we will meet again at the Rainbow Bridge.

God Bless you all

Rick

I wish my teling you how sorry I am for your loss could lessen your pain. You did the right thing letting him die with dignity and not being selfish to let him go through the pain just to have him a bit longer by your side. What an act of extreme generosity!
Keep the nice memories in your heart to help you in your grief....

Rick, I am sorry for you. It's never an easy thing to have to deal with. I am certain that you gave Barkley the best life he could have had. You are brave for giving him the dignity that he so much deserved, and I commend you for that. I promise you that Barkley is thanking you!
Rest easy, good Barkley.

Rick...I am so sorry for the loss of your Barkley. He was such a young one and cancer attacks those dearest to us. My heart breaks that you are experiencing such a loss. You gave Barkley the dignity he deserved, he needed you to be as strong for him as he had always been for you. He will be meet lots of new friends at the bridge, my Sasha will make sure of that. There are many here that know how it feels to lose a loved one. Barkley will now be your forever "rottie angel" watching over you always. Godspeed Barkley as you fly on your wings of gold that you so richly deserve!

I'm so sorry for your loss. Eventually the tears will be replaced with little smiles of remembrance, then before you know it, your heart will be smiling at all the great memories.

Barkley took a small piece of your heart with him, but you will always remember how much love you shared.

What a wonderful person you are for thinking of Barkley before yourself. I know that he is forever grateful. I'm sure my playful fun-loving Sofie was there to greet and welcome him.

Re: My Baby Boy Barkley has now Crossed

I've lost several of my dear Rottie friends to cancer. If fairness reigned, the tears I cried and the times my heart was broken would have been enough, sparing others from having to walk the sorrowful path on which my dogs and I walked.

I am so very very sorry for your loss and heartbreak.

Barkley was the luckiest dog in the world because he was your treasured friend. I hope that when you are ready, you open your heart and your home to another dog.
