Thumbs up Ari ~ celebrating his birth and his life

May 18th would have been Ari's 35th birthday...and today, May 19th, marks the one year anniversary of his death.

I don't need to tell you how all much the pain still hurts. I remember just as if it was an hour ago...those last moments and feeling so helpless to help the horse who had provided me such new beginnings. He was the horse on whom I learned how to ride as an 8 years old...and the horse who taught me how to walk again after spending 2.5 years in a wheelchair following my injury.

Those last moments when his body failed...and I failed to have the strength to help him walk...I knew our journey together on this earth had come to an end. I miss him with all of my heart...he has left a void that no one will ever fill but he is in very good company with the best up there. And, he has left me with his gifts which have changed my life forever.

Thank you my angel Ari...

Re: Ari ~ celebrating his birth and his life

Thank you all for remembering Ari with me. If I can finally get the picture to load, I will post one of Ari on his last birthday. He was weary but still so very much himself...his desire to live forever was what made letting him go so very hard.

Everyone who knew him still speaks of him...he touched many people and because of that Ari will still be known to others even if just by his spirit. I still half expect to hear his hollering when I go down to the barn night...Gabriel has taken up the role, but his attempts are quite feeble! He tries, though...have to give him that!

Re: Ari ~ celebrating his birth and his life

They say that as along as one is remembered by others....their spirit never continues to flourish. And now many, many more people are aware of the special bond you two developed....It sounds like Ari will never be forgotten!!! What a blessing to have had that horse in your life...no wonder you miss him.

Will look for the picture.

Re: Ari ~ celebrating his birth and his life

Thank you all...I do think the fact we had such a long time together makes the pain all the worse as he was part of my life for over 17 years...peace with such a loss never seems to fully arise.

Thank you for allowing me to share Ari with you...I only wish you all had met him. He was an amazing soul.
