Thumbs up Re: Making the decision

Barbara, you yourself were so kind when I was having problems with Zeke, I've missed seeing you post, and wish it was not under these circumstances for your boy Sam.

You are all in my thoughts tommorow, and I'll light a candle for Sam as well, god bless you for giving him the best life possible. No dog could ask for more, love and kindness.

HUGS... Lori

Re: Making the decision

Well, he's gone. I can't thank you enough for your kind and loving sentiments. You're a great bunch.

He simply was the best dog ever - our hearts are aching for him. Even though he didn't make much of a fuss about anything, the house is strangely silent despite the very loud and persistent voices of three young children. Since Joe and I have been together - 15 years - there's always been a dog here so it will take some getting used to.

You've all been a great comfort to me. Blessings to you all.

Re: Making the decision

Barbara my heart aches for you as you endure the loss of Sammy #2. He needed you to be strong and you gave him the dignity he deserved. He will always hold a special place in your heart. Perhaps in time the pitter patter of little paws will be in your future. But until then, let your heart heal with time...the only thing that seems to help. Sam was in great hands with you. He has joined Sammy #1 at the bridge. They will both be your guardian rottie angels. Godspeed Sammy. Watch over your family...they miss you dearly. I will keep you and your family in my daily thoughts and prayers. Take care of yourself, Arlene.

Re: Making the decision

I am so very sorry, Barbara, so very very sorry. It is heartbreaking when our dearly loved canine friends are seriously ill with no hope of recovery, requiring us to demonstrate the depth of our love by setting them free.

Re: Making the decision

Thank you all again for your lovely, comforting words. We got Sammy's ashes back today. We'll take him out to the place in the country he loved the most and give him back to nature. Joe would take him out to our friends' house at least one day a week - he would spend the first hour or so dashing about marking everything in sight with such purpose. He had a job to do, by golly, and he was going to do it right! He'd be happy if he could only know that he'll be there for eternity. Perhaps he will.

Our hearts will heal in time but I sure do miss that big old black dog with his endearing charms and utter sweetness. He was what we needed when we lost Sammy #1...balm for our souls. It'll be tough to find another one as good as he was.

I am sincerely touched by your heartfelt and kindly expressions of sympathy. It certainly makes it easier to bear the loss of our great friend.

Hugs to you all,
Barbara

For sure his owners would have given him up to the first person to offer them a few hundred dollars - the woman at the boarding kennels who offered to take him until they could re-home him was determined to place him in a good home. It was a privilege to have him as a member of our family. We're glad we were able to give him a life worth living even if it wasn't for nearly long enough. I appreciate your kind sentiments.

I am so very sorry for your loss. May Sammy be free of pain with all our other angels.
The empty place will never go away, but you know you gave all your love.

Re: Making the decision

Barbara,

I'm so very sorry for your loss, and the pain you are enduring. You know, though, that Sammy is a part of you, and though the lack of his physical presence echoes, he will never leave your heart. Look for him there when you need him.

Luna will welcome him, along with all our Rottie Angels.....Godspeed, Sammy!

You're a sweet girl. Thank you for the very nice words. You've been through a lot of this in the past while so I'm sure you're still grieving over your girls.

Much to my surprise, I'm feeling a lot less maudlin this week...much easier to bear the loss knowing he's not in pain.

Why do I keep hearing little woofs and creaks from the bottom of the stairs in the middle of the night, though...
Barbara
