Taffin

We had to euthinize my horse yesterday......he was a grand old man (23) recently diagnosed with a brain stem tumor. He stood an awsome 17 hands, for those of you who don't know a hand is 4 inches....so he was a very big boy....gentle, calm with not a contrary bone in his body. I competed him for a number of years but realized that competition was not his calling. His greatest ability was in encouraging young riders.....through him they learned wisdom, that great size and strength can also be gentle, they learned respect,he would not tolerate harsh methods...I laugh sometimes when I remember in particular one girl who was riding him...she lost her temper and before I could stop her, smacked him. Taffin simply stopped all forward movement and refused to do anything until she calmed down. That girl is now competiting and doing very well....she thanks my boy for learning patience. I got so many calls last night from his former "students" expressing their grief...we all had a good cry....He was laid to rest near his old stablemate. Sleep well my boy....

Re: Taffin

Run free with the angels, Taffin. Say "Neigh, hi there" to Gypsy, my daughter-in-law's sweet paint horse who went to the Bridge March 16th. You are fortunate to have had that grand old man for 23 years! Run, play, kick up your heels like a colt again!

Re: Taffin

I am so sorry, horses are so very special to my heart, and Taffin sounds like a wonderful, special boy, say "hi" to Sensation for me. You will enjoy running the fields with that feisty girl.

RIP

Re: Taffin

Pam, I'm sorry to hear this. Thank you for sharing him with so many riders and allowing his gift to be enjoyed. Nobility is not something trained into a horse, I'm glad you got to enjoy a "good one."

I'm so sorry for you loss. What a wonderful age and a grand representative he was. I think it's wonderful that so many had the benefit of all the gifts he had to offer.

Godspeed Taffin
