Re: Diesel

I am so very sorry about your loss. I saw all his pictures and felt such a sadness, and I did not even know him. I wish I had words of comfort for you, or could try to make a positive remark about the life you had with him. I just know there is nothing that could make it better for you.

I hope can eventually come back and do a tribute for him. It took me a month to do mine for Brodie, and even so, it was heart wrenching.

Re: Diesel

How sad. I am sorry. Diesel would only have been around 6? Although his absence is what is so painful, take comfort and be glad for all of the wonderful, quality time you spent with this boy! The many pics of your adventures with him is a testament to that. Tuck those memories deep in your heart and Diesel will remain with you always.
RIP sweet boy.

Re: Diesel

When I saw Diesel's name on the Rainbow Bridge, I was shocked because I read so many posts where you have mentioned him. It seems like although we didn't know him personally, we somehow knew him by reading about him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Re: Diesel

I'm really sorry for your loss, goose71. I lost my first rottie Elsa a few years ago, and I know how much it hurts. I felt like I lost my child.

My deepest condolences to you & yours; rest in peace diesel.

Re: Diesel

Thank you all for your kind words. In reponse to the tribute, here's what I wrote on my homepage tribute to Diesel.

"How does one say goodbye to a beloved pet, companion, buddy, friend, family member? I'm still not sure. Today, I had to have Diesel put to sleep. No more hikes through the mountains, no more games of fetch, dropping the ball precisely beetween my feet. No more scratching his belly or just hugging him because he's there. No more howling with a tennis ball in his mouth when an ambulance passes by. No more biting at the air as he has his head out the window, How many times did I yell at him for making mistakes such as his recent wetting in the house? Only to find out now, that it was his diabetes that would cause him to lose control of his bladder. How many times will I go to the beach and think how much Diesel loved it there, or on a hike without him being the one carrying the water in his doggy-backpack. Diesel was a perfect dog. I had downgraded him to near perfect in recent weeks because of his wetting inside the house; however, now that I know, he had no control over it, I again consider him to have been a perfect dog. After he saw how upset I became over it, at one point, he just wet as he lay in his bed, rather than get up and see me get upset at him. Anybody who's ever watched Diesel, bathed Diesel, checked him out the vets, or even played with him, always was amazed at just how great of a dog he was.

So how does one say goodbye to a beloved pet, a companion, a buddy, a friend, a family member? One doesn't. One simply says, "I will see you again, my friend, rest in peace"."

Re: Diesel

P.S. I was a regular member here when I first got Diesel at 8 weeks and this board was a tremendous help in helping train him and getting familiar with the typical Rottweiler behavior. I remember some of the names, like Rottnkid, Bucky's Mom and I believe I remember My2Rotties (sounds familiar), there were other members as well, Mojave's mom,German Vanegas, and Workingdogz. I stopped posting more or less after Diesel was about 1.5 years old and extremely well trained to where he practically took care of him self. I can't tell you what a help it's been to have such wonderul experienced people providing such outstanding assistance. I did occasionally lurk after that, but not much. I see below that there are quite a few "Diesel" topics, I believe Mandel might have thought it was one of those Diesels. Mandel your thoughts are still much appreciated. I ask that everyone reading this, please give your pet an extra hug in honor of Diesel, as I sadly cannot. Again, thank you for your thoughts and well wishes.
