My Bear is gone.....

I am mostly a lurker... very little posting. By the time I get on board the discussions have been settled in my mine, so no part in adding my penny.

But this is about my Baby Bear. Wed. Night about 8:30 Bear started coughing,well the weather here is changing from day to day and can trigger a post nasal drip. ( Ihave sinus problems in theis farming area) At 9:30 I heard
a cough like my Rufus had when he passed with hemagiosarcoma(sp). I called the vet and she meet me at the office. Did X-Rays and found fluid around his heart. Did the lasix shot and a mild sedactive and we returned home until the next morning. She told me to bring him in around 8;30 and would do the phone EKG with the university cardiologist (sp) He came to work with me and was here for 10 minutes and off to the vet we went. The Vet thought we had caught his problem in time which would have been early stage of congested heart failure. Well in the process of doing the EKG he coded.
The cardiologist called on the phone and said this was a big problem and he was in trouble. They gave my baby shots to try and bring him around ...nothing worked. He still had his indepence about him, he walked in and greeted every one as usual. Last night was the first time in 20 years
that I have not had a Rottie in the house. Not only a rottie a dog. I have
cried my eyes out this morning. I will have to tell my husband sometime today ...he is away taking cancer treatments and dialysis in Chicago. This is going to wreck his nervous system. Bear was still over weight from his thyroid condition. We got him down from a 183 to 160. I hope he is running and playing with rest of the gang especially Coco (3/08/04). I am missing you big guy. So run my baby and have fun.

So, give a hug and pat every chance you can.

Gail...I am so sad to hear of your loss. And the timing is totally wrong.

There's not much we can do but pray for you and hubby....you know Bear is already playing with his friends. I just feel so bad for you....you are dealing with way too much on your own right now.

I am so sad for you. It is never a good time to lose these treasures in our lives, but you and your husband had plenty to deal with already.

I would like to thank each and everyone for your kind words. I told hubby,
he is taking it rather ruff with me being here and him there. My son and grandchildren will be in sometime tonight. Bear was their's and we ended up with him 5 1/2 year ago. They couldn't afford the insurance and being
parents and students in college with a new set of twins and a 2 month old puppy at the time something had to give. So we took Bear after they had to relocate. Again thanks a million for the prayers and good thoughts.
