Thumbs up Tessa, my darling girl, has gone to the bridge

Tess, my beautiful, beautiful princess went to sleep on Tuesday at 12.55pm. She was in my arms as they did it. Tess was diagnosed with bone cancer on the weekend.

We may have been able to extend her life a little longer with drugs but when I saw what she was like on pain killers, I pretty much made up my mind there and then.

It really is hard to know what to do or when you should do it but her quality of life was what mattered the most to me. I loved her so much. I did what I thought was best for her.

Tess, I miss you so much. Daddy loves you and will never forget you.
She was the most beautiful gentle soul and I was very fortunate to have 8 years together with such a special rottie.

I knew that Tess meant the world to me but what really caught me a bit off guard was just how many lives she had touched. It was very comforting, even though it was upsetting, to know just how much she also meant to our friends and those who had met her.

I now have to focus on my little rottie buddy Zac. Zac has been Tess' shadow for the last 6 years. Where ever Tess would go, Zac would follow. So far, he seems to be handling it well. The big boof head still has his appetite which is a relief and I took him to the beach yesterday so he could go for a swim and play with other dogs which he absoluetly loves.
The poor thing is getting so many hugs and kisses but he laps it all up.

Good bye my sweet angel, you are free now and no longer in pain. I love you, I love you, I love you and I will always remember you. You will always have a special place in my heart. Daddy

What a touching post. I am so sorry you lost your girl. You were right to free her from the pain of bone cancer. It was the final and greatest gift to her.

Re: Tessa, my darling girl, has gone to the bridge

Thanks for your messages. I know many of you have gone through the heartbreak of losing a special family member. I've been to this thread before and cried as I read the posts, feeling for those of you who had lost their little buddies/angels and dreading the day I too would have to post a message.

I wish I had the ability to put into words the love, the admiration, the respect, the fondness, the bond I had with and for Tess as well as the pain, the grief and the anguish I felt at the decision to put her to sleep.
I so want to give her the tribute she deserves yet I am finding it difficult to find the right words.

Having said that, I know how much the members of this discussion love their dogs and even without finding the right words I know that many of you will understand what it is I am trying to say. Again thank you for your messages of support.

John

John-
You must have such beautiful memories of your life together Tessa. I'm sure it was such a hard decision, but letting them go with dignity and without pain really is a gift. She has given you so much love and touched so many lives, people will never forget her.
