My Girl Taz

I am so sad. A wreck, in fact. I had to put my friend to sleep yesterday. Many will say that it is just a cat but she was my cat and we went through a lot of life together. Her life started out tough. The last one in the litter that no one wanted. An unfortunate accident that took her leg at a very early age. Everyone thought I should have just had her PTS then. She graduated from college with me and we moved to our first job where she accompanied me to the corrals everyday to feed the bulls. We then moved on from this terrible job to find ourselves homeless for a while, sleeping in the car and on friends couches. She even had to spend some time away when I couldn't keep her in the apartment I was staying at. I quicky found another job and another home for us. She loved it at the PMU barn and caught mice in the feed alley while I fed the horses. She was like my dog. I have never met a cooler cat, ever. While the dog lies blissfully unaware Taz would run to the door growling when a stranger approached.
When I had nothing else I still had her.

She was supposed to be with me to help me through losing my other beloved pet Mocha, Taz's nemisis. I was getting as prepared as I could to lose Mocha but to lose Taz so suddenly...

I love you, I miss you sleeping with me on my pillow, and I miss your chirpy non-cat noises. I am sorry we didn't get long to say goodby and that you couldn't spend your last night at home.

You are home now and forever in my heart.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Anyone who says she was just a cat, does not understand. When I lost my cat a few years ago (she was 14), it was heartbreaking. The pain does subside & I can now look back on her pictures with a smile.
