Today I cried

Tomorrow it will be 1 week since I had to put Irvine down. Some of you know me from the post under behaviour (where I agonized the decision). I don't know why, but I haven't been able to cry since I walked out of the Vet's office. Today it just came, I couldn't stop picturing her and remembering all the good things - snuggling on the couch, long walks by the ocean, that safe feeling when you're alone and a stranger rings the bell and your Rottie answers. My daughter (3 years old) says Irvine is in heaven, running and playing with God, no longer in pain. She asks me to remember that I still have Champ (our little rescue mutt - yellow lab/Aussie shep). I just cry and tell her that I miss Irvine, she was my dog, my best friend.

I am so sorry for your loss. When my Vladimir died, my mother sent my son(5yrs old) a book called "Dog Heaven". It is such a wonderful story for a child, and for you as well. One page says that every once and a while, an angel will take your dog for a walk, to come and check on you. It tells of all the things that your dog is doing in heaven, chasing ducks, eating treats, etc. To this day, my son says, "do you think Vladimir is sleeping on a cloud now, or running and playing?"
I know what you mean about her being "your dog and your best friend". It is so hard to deal with the loss of a wonderful Rottie, and you are in my thoughts today. Take some time to cry. It took me a week to sweep up the dog hair, just wanting to leave it in all the spots he used to lay. Again, I'm so sorry for the loss of your Irvine.

I lost my Aonyx about a month ago and it is still very hard I know. But let it out it really does help when you cry and try to think about the good times you had together and even think about the bad times like when you would have to yell at her/him for something she/he did and it will bring a smile to your face just to remember how bad they were but yet we still love them so much. Sorry for your loss you are in my prayers............

I know where you are at.

Kamen passed away two months ago today.

It will get better...but there will be days when tears come, and that's not a bad thing. It's part of healing. I know this fall I'll bring Kamen's ashes out on the deck in the evenings when it's cool and quiet, and I'll think of him.

A prayer goes out to you from me.

Troy

I am so sorry for your loss, I lost my first rottie - Snickers over a year ago and sometimes out of the blue I will think of her and how silly she could be a start to cry.

Hugs to you and your family

Michele

I am so sorry for your loss. Go ahead and cry. Remember we are all here for you. Its tough to loose a good friend and , unfortunately, too many of us on this discussion board, have known that loss.
