A message in a dream...

My Freddy (Ridgeback/Pitt) went to the bridge the morning of May 21. It has been really hard to adjust to life without Freddy, but I do know he is no longer suffering and that does make me feel better. Several nights ago I had a dream and I was wondering if any of you had ever had this experience. In my dream, Freddy was running up the stairs ahead of me...his eyes were bright, tail wagging, and tongue hanging out....looked like he was laughing. In the dream, my first thought was that the meds given to put him to sleep had not worked and I was horrified. I then realized that the Freddy I was seeing was young and healthy and full of life...the Freddy that was my buddy for so many years. I had been so depressed and in tears over losing Freddy.....I really feel like this was his way of letting me know that he is ok. I would love to hear about anyone elses experiences.

Although I haven't lost a pet I have lost people that I love VERY much. This has happened to me with my loved ones. I have had them come to me in dreams telling me that they were now healthy,happy, and whole.
My daughter who is 4 1/2 has had her brother in law come to her asking to let everyone know that he loves us all very much and he is watching over us. So to answer your question Yes,I do believe what your dream was saying. You are blessed bacause not everyone can have this gift. :)

I believe in signs like that. Some dreams are different than others. Freddy just let you know.

I agree, this was Freddy's way of letting you know that things are ok now. I am sorry for your loss but thankful that you had this dream, although unsettling sometimes, they do help one to know the loved one is no longer suffering and is in a better place! Good luck to you, I hope you are feeling better, it is always hard to lose a loved one.

I am so sorry for your loss. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. I believe that this dream was due to the fact that Freddy understood how upset you were over his death and came to you via dream to let you know that he is fine and he will be waiting for you at the top of the stairs when it is your turn to ascend. Just MHO.

[Sampson's Mom]

We had to let our precious Sampson go to the bridge on April 3. Mike and I argued for days about if it was the right time. He thought it was and I said absolutely not. Our vet and many others agreed with Mike so we made the difficult decision to let go. Afterward I agonized that we had done the wrong thing. A few days later I had a dream that I was in my kitchen and Sampson came bouncing in with his ears flopping all over and a sparkle in his eyes. He jumped in my lap and was giving me kisses. He looked so happy and healthy. It wasn't until then that I realized how much he had changed in the last year and that he didn't look very healthy. I believe that he was sending me a message telling me that I did make the right decision and he's happy and having a blast with all his friends at the bridge. I truely believe that they watch over us and they know our pain and anguish over letting them go. I think they want to let us know that it's okay and to just remember the good times and remember them when they were happy and healthy, like they are now at the bridge. I'm so sorry to hear about your Freddy, but I hope is message has given you a little peace.

Dear you,

I KNOW what you mean when telling this dream.

I strongly believe that we are more "open" when we sleep. The brain gets into the stage of Alpha-waves (you can read books about it) and in this state many psycho-chinetic experiences happens to people.

This is a close stage to the "other realm" where meditating brainwaves (and som believe also the souls waves) dwells.

HERE we can communicate in ways not possible on this third dimension world we are living in with our physical bodies.

When my cocker-spanel Daffy died several years ago I can SWEAR that I heard his claws clicking on my bedroom floor some nights. Once I also felt that Daffy jumped up into my bed, laying down by my legs and I could "feel" his warmth - this made me secure and I felt that "everything was okey" with my darling.

After that everything went calm and I saved my darling Daffy in my heart.

It really hurts when our loved ones being pressed into our hearts with Lifes' primordial force - but it is also something that builds up our capacity to feel emphaty with both ourselves and the surroinding we are living in.

(this was really hard for me to "explain" in english language, hope you can "read between the lines" and get my point...)

Thank you Ethar for your beautiful post. It makes me feel good to know that you had this experience with Daffy, and also Lisa had the experience with Sampson. I really do believe that our dogs are at peace waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge. We love our animals so deeply and the bond is so strong....I know they are with us in spirit every day and I do believe that we will meet with them again when our time on this earth comes to an end. Just like Sampson's Mom, I realized just how much Freddy's health had failed when he came back to me in my dream and he was so spunky and full of life.

I believe we get messages from loved ones who've crossed, whether they're people, dogs, or other animals. Sometimes we just have dreams, but at other times, it's something different. It's somehow different from a regular dream - so real and meaningful. I'm so very sorry about your loss, but I'm glad he's come to visit you. I hope and pray that our Kim will visit me as other animals and loved ones I've lost have done in the past.
