Delia: Rainbow Bridge

I just received the telephone call I sure hoped I wouldn't :(

Kathy allowed Delia to cross over the Rainbow Bridge this afernoon; peacefully and surrounded by those that loved her most.

Kathy said she will be making a post (quote) "When I can see the keys again" but since there were so many people supporting her and Delia; she wanted you to know what the outcome was as soon as possible.

Keep those good wishes coming her way....

KatMc -

My heart goes out to you. Saying goodbye is never easy and it is unbelievably more painful when you have to be the one to make that decision.

We are all very proud of the love and dedication you have for Delia and the tremendous effort you made to try to save her. You couldn't be a better mom and I have not a whisper of a doubt that you did the right thing.

She may be gone in body, but she'll never be gone in spirit - hang on to all those lovely things you know about her and now take time to care for yourself - you need to rest.

Much love, Patti

KatMc,

I am so so sorry. I have been silently watching your posts - and praying for a happy outcome. I know that you made the best decision that you could for your sweet girl. Just know in your heart that she will always be with you whenever you need her most, in spirit.

I will be thinking about the both of you.

Kathy - I am so terribly sorry. You have been so brave and could not have done any more. My heart breaks for you. Here is a poem for you.

"I know it is hard to say goodbye my beloved human but please know that I am no longer in pain. I am whole, happy and healthy again. Please, my beloved human, do not grieve overmuch, though it is good to weep. So weep, my beloved human, they dry your eyes and know that I am always with you in my heart. Please do not dwell on the things you feel you should have done, because I have had a good life. Please my beloved human, I ask that you, when the time is right take another of my earth bound brothers or sisters into your heart and home and give them a wonderful life like you gave to me. And when the time comes for you to shed you mortal shell, we will be together forever".

Kathy - I'm so sorry. You and Delia have been thru so much. You're a true example of a responsible dog owner, unflailing in your devotion. I admire you. Take the time you need to grieve, it's alright to do that. We've all been there, and have yet to go thru it again. I'd like to post
something that was sent to me a few years ago when my dog went to the Bridge. It's lengthy, but it's so touching, I want to share it with you and the list members.

A Letter from your Rottie in Heaven:
To my dearest family,
some things I'd like to say, but first of all to let you know that I arrived okay. I'm writing this from the Bridge. Here I dwell with God above. Here there's no more tears of sadness, Here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy, just because I'm out of sight. Remember that I am with you, every morning, noon and night. The day I had to leave you, when my life on earth was through, God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you. It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone. As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on." God gave me a list of things that he wished for me to do, and foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you. And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight, God and I are closest to you, in the middle of the night. When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years, because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears. But do not be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain. Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain. I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned. If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certains, though my life on earth is o'er. I'm closer to you now, then I ever was before. There are rocky roads ahead of you, and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time. It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you, too' That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain; then you can say to God at night...My day was not in vain." And now I am contented, that my life was worthwhile. Knowing as I passed along I made somebody smile. God says; "If you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low; Just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go. When you're walking down the street with me on your mind; I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind." And when it's time for you to go..from that body to be free. Remember you're not going...you're coming here to me." Author Unknown
