Lost my WrongWay Kitty

I know this forum is for Rotties, and thankfully my Tigger is just fine. I just need a place to “vent” and I know you guys will understand.
I walked out my door to go to work this morning to find my WrongWay Kitty lying on the hood of my boyfriend’s car. Nothing unusual about that, he works 2nd shift so when he gets home the cats pile on top of the hood of the car cuz it’s warm. She was all sprawled out as usual, but when I closed the door she didn’t budge. The other cat, Tanea, looked up so I thought it was a bit odd. I called her and walked over to her and realized that she had passed away. She was fine last night, and my boyfriend said she ran out to meet him when he got home, and was talking to him and seemed to be fine when he got home.

She was only 6 ˝ years old and my favorite of the cats. I bottle-fed her when she was a baby and brought her into bed with me when she cried at night because the momma kitty wasn’t there. She followed me everywhere and talked to me constantly. She was the one hanging over my shoulder while I worked on my car, rolling in the dirt while I planted the flowers in the front yard, and lying on my books while I was trying to do my homework. I will miss her dearly and always wonder if I should have noticed something was wrong and if I could have done something to keep her here with me.

Why do they live such a short time.. It's not fair. I still have 3 cats and my Tigger puppy.. I dread the thought of going thru this again - but I know I will. It just isn't fair.

I'm sorry to hear about WrongWay Kitty. I had 2 cats, one lived to be 22,the other 17 (they were inside only cats), how I have missed them since they've been gone!

There is a certain spot that only a cat can fill once you have been owned by that particular one, it sounds like WrongWay was the one. Keep her alive in your memories and don't beat yourself up, it sounds like she went peacefully.

You're in my thoughts,
Kathy

Sorry to hear of your loss. My friend has had her cat for more than 10 years now, I remember when I first got my Rotti he was smaller than the cat, he has since passed on but Buster (the cat) is still going strong.

Lanna I am so sorry for your loss. It sounds like she went peacefully and thank goodness in a familiar territory (at home.) I am very fortunate I haven't had to deal with the loss of a pet yet but I know when I do I'll have a really hard time. My two cats are everything to me and now I want to rescue a Rottie I must be nuts right? Keep remembering all the good times with your cat and again I am sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. Our pets bring us so much joy through the years and so much sadness when they leave us. It does sound like WrongWay Kitty died peacefully so that is a blessing-leaves a big empty place in your life though. I know alot of people who have lost their pets and will never get another because of the grief when you lose them, but the joy that they bring through the years and the love that you give and receive is priceless. Think of all those good memories and the good life that WrongWay Kitty was able to have because of you.

I am sorry for your loss.

Maybe you one day can see that your darling cat fell asleep on a warm hood of a car, with its cat-friend beside. It is always so sad when we loose our loved ones - but still if I were a cat I would prefere to die at home, on my masters car, with my cat-friend beside me, in MY homearea and not in some place where strangers were around me.

I think of you! Take care and don't forget to hug and kiss those loved ones who is still with you.

Thank You to all of you for your kind words. I will miss WrongWay but I've taken away a valuable lesson.. to love them all I can while they're here because it never is long enough.

thanks again,
Lanna
