"Our" Motley

It came with shock yesterday the passing of our best friend's 5 year old bullmastiff, Motley. Motley died due to bloat--after chasing a would-be intruder from his home. Our friend Pat was just coming home from work when he found his beloved companion dead on the front lawn.

I can't express the pain my wife and I are going through with the loss of Motley. We lived with Pat for several years and felt Motley was as much ours as he was Pat's. My wife is unconsolable right now, as she shared a special bond with Motley. I only saw Motley get excited over 2 people in all the time I knew him: my wife and Pat. Motley was a 'human' dog. He preferred the company of humans to dogs and only wanted one thing in life: to be pet/felt by people. My wife would often sit for hours just rubbing his belly or back.

We'll miss him terribly.

I am so sorry about Motley. Sounds like he was a very special dog. My sympathies go out to all of you. I'll be thinking of you.

I'm so sorry to hear about Motley. Only time can ease the pain of losing such a special friend. He will always be in your hearts. Rest in peace Motley, what a good boy he was. :)

Thank you very much for your special words. The pain right now is unbelievable and what makes it worse was never having the chance to give him one final pat or pet or hug or good bye. I know he's in a better place now, but being selfish, I wish for just one more moment with him.

I'm sorry to hear of Motley's passing.

You gave him a great tribute in your post. I hope you and your wife and Pat won't hold the tears in. Let them come, it's the only cleanser but time.

He is watching over you even now.

Kathy
