Poem to share for Letting Go

I'm so sorry for everyone experiencing pain and sorrow lately. I lost a beloved kitty coming up on 7 months ago to a vicious cancer called Vaccine Associated Sarcoma.
Anyway, I belong to a wonderful support group of people all going through this. One of the members received a sympathy card from her vet with this poem on it (I think the vet wrote it herself) and I felt compelled to share it with all of you.

"When I am gone, release me, let me go-I have too many things to see and do. You must not tie yourself to me with tears, be thankful for our beautiful years. I gave you my love, you can only guess, how much you gave to me in happiness. I thank you for the love you have shown, but now it's time I tavel on alone. So grieve awhile for me, if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted by trust. It is only for a time that we must part, so bless the memories within your heart. I won't be far away, for life goes on, so if you need me call and I will come. Though you can't see or hear me, I'll be near, and if you listen with your heart you'll hear, all my love around you soft and clear. And when you come this way alone, I'll greet you with a purr (or woof) and say "Welcome Home!"

Thank you for posting that beautiful poem. The vet called and Freddy Ridgeback's ashes are ready to be picked up....I am on my way. The poem made me cry but also feel better.

Thanks for posting this beautiful poem. I'm sure it gave comfort to all of us who have had our pets go to the bridge.

Elijah's Mom...I'm thinking of you today as you go to pick up Freddy's ashes. It was so hard for me to pick up Sampson's ashes. It made losing him all too real.

The poem is beautiful, and we all need to remember that one day, we will all be together again. And, when that time comes they will run to us like they were young pups again, no pain, only joy.

Sampson's Mom....Thank You. Freddy's ashes are now in the china cabinet with Henry and Sluggo's...........they loved one another and now are together at the Bridge. It is so hard.......never gets any easier when you love your animals so much.

I wasn't able to bring myself to take a look at this until now - Kim's death has really taken a toll on me. It's a beautiful poem. Thank you so much for posting it.

Thanks sincerely for that. I lost my beloved kitty too (the Rottweiler Trainer, we called her) and life is just not the same. What group do you belong to-I need some help. You should read a book called "My Cat Saved My Life". It is the best.

Hi tombstone,
It's a yahoogroup whose member's cats all have fibrosarcoma as a result of vaccinations. You didn't say if that's what you lost your kitty to, but losing any furry pet to any kind of cancer or illness is the worst. Someone once said "the amount of hurt is directly related to how much you cared." and that certainly is true, isn't it?
Anyway, if your situation fits, the group name is Feline_VAS_Support and you can pull it up on the NO SPAMMING main page.
Best to you, and everyone too.

time to walk towards rainbows bridge?

my heart goes out to all as I read thru the heart filled notes....
Today.. my 13 yr old rottie told me with his eyes what he couldnt say in words... his bone cancer has caught up and I think he wants to rest... I will give him that dignity... today I will make arrangements for the crossing this week..........
no matter how much i think i have prepared mentally for this day..... nothing can really prepare for the whisper in his eyes..........
