Thumbs up R.I.P. my sweet Dixie Darling

It is with a heavy heart that I have to type this. My sweet Dixie crossed over to the bridge this afternoon. She was fine last night and this morning, but this afternoon, there she layed, peacefull. She was 4 years old, had inner demons with aggression towards other female dogs, but to the family, was very sweet and kind.

I took her to the vet this afternoon for them to send her off to be cremated. He looked her over and told me that she had an anneurysm ~sp~ that ruptured. It sort of put me at ease, knowing that I knew there would be nothing that I could have done for her to try and save her, as well as knowing that she was not in any pain and went quickly. It hurts deeply no matter what. She will be missed greatly.

Rest in peace my sweet Dixie Belle. Give Spot and Logan Boy my love. We will see eachother again, I promise.

Melissa

Re: R.I.P. my sweet Dixie Darling

MMillard, I send my greatest sympathies to you and your families. Dixie is free now.

I did know a doberman who also died of an anneurysm. Prior to his death he had severe agression problems, directed at himself, and other dogs. Perhaps her dog/dog issues could be partially attributed?

Thumbs up Re: R.I.P. my sweet Dixie Darling

Thank you guys so much. This first night has been the hardest. My husband and I kept on saying that it is too quiet, normally Dixie is barking at something in the woods.

Some of you may remember my past threads about her, with her aggression towards Winnie and the blood that was shed. We tried training, and she was doing good as long as it was a male dog that was next to her. She, well I can't just blame her, We got kicked out because she went after several different female dogs. I didn't say anything here because I felt I failed her. But we worked at home on her issues. She never was able to get along with Winnie, but did just fine around Jager. She was a beautiful GSD/Rott mix that we rescued as a pup from a shelter. We didn't know about her past or anything, but wanted to give her the best home possible.

She was the best darned watch dog that we had. Anytime someone would pull up to our yard, before she even had seen them she heard them and would bark to allert us that someone was here. She was a good girl, that is now free from pain, pain that I couldn't see or try to help with.

Thank you again for all of your kind words. They mean a lot to my husband and myself right now, more then you all could know.

Melissa
