Harley is gone

it's been 1 week since we put him to sleep, i still can't beleive it.
he was diagnost with osteosarcoma in the begining of january after he broke
his femur. he was doing so well after his operation, we had him x-rayed the week before last and the bone was heeling fine and still no signs of a tumor.
we had him on peroxicam for the osteo, but the day before we put him to sleep he started to have issues with his bladder and the vet said the cancer was the cause, he went with the dignity he deserved, mabe i should of done it sooner,
but he was always so happy

It may seem so difficult every day to get through this but do know that you will make it through. You are in my thoughts.

I thought the same thing...and my dog was euthanized 2 days after a needle biopsy confirmed the osteosarcoma. My sweet Luna smiled through her pain and I thought I waited a day too long, even though I already "knew" and had the appointment set before her biopsy results even came back. It's frightening how fast this cancer moves once it gets hold of our dogs, and we do the best we can to know when the balance between the love for life and the need to die begins to falter. Your boy went with his dignity because of the compassion and respect you had for him and, if you could ask him, I'm sure he'd say he would not have denied you a single one of those happy smiles. You did the right thing when he told you it was time...and that was the right moment to do it in.

Godspeed Harley, fly with the Angels.....I know my girl was there to welcome you.

Re: Harley is gone

My condolences to you and your family. Czar is gone one week from today, and the pain is still so fresh. But, we are fortunate that we are able to end their suffering in a peaceful way....

Harley no longer has cancer....and he is running as if the leg was never broken.

Re: Harley is gone

We too send our thoughts your way. We lost our boy to osteosarcoma 5 days ago. We have given our dogs the gift of compassion. No more suffering.
You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Godspeed Harley.
