Please keep Nina in your thoughts

My friend's sister acquired a Mastiff<Nina, which was flown here from Portugal(long story) and they have had her for two years, The son (6) left his bowl of soup on the couch and the dog went for the bowl. The little boy returned to the bowl and decided to grab it when Nina bit his ear. 911 was called and the boy was taken to the ER to be stitched while Animal Control picked up Nina. She will be PTS since she has been deemed unadoptable. I have met this dog several times and she is a sweet, sweet dog. Their idea of training her was restraining her by being tied. I feel so sorry for this girl since she was never given the training she needed which resulted in this bite episode. My friend told me that "she is better off cause now she has the taste of human blood and she would bite again". I didn't have the energy to debate. Please keep Nina in your thoughts as she will be left alone to die with strangers.

~*sighs*~

God Speed sweet Nina.

Crap like this frustrates me to no end. Though I feel sorry for the boy, my heart goes out to a dog that could have had a wonderful chance at a good life given the proper training.

I'm sure Nina will meet many others at the Bridge with a similar story. She will not be alone.....Bye, Nina.

TOO SAD! Why was the child not sitting at the table with his soup? Where were the parents?
Rest in peace Nina...

Godspeed sweet Nina.

Another example of why children and dogs should not be left unsupervised.

Boy does this hit too close to home. Go run free sweet Nina and please say hello to Pompei, another dog left to die at the hands of strangers due to human error. Godspeed.

Re: Please keep Nina in your thoughts

Thank you all for your kind words. I appreciate your sentiments since I have been so distraught thinking about Nina. I feel that this was so preventable and the family has no clue whatsoever. I think of the time and money that I put into my dogs and it sickens me. I suffered tremendously after the loss of my 3 boys and to think this dog will die at 3 years of age because of laziness. I am rambling. Thank you all again.

Re: Please keep Nina in your thoughts

It does not make one proud to be a human being.

Poor dog. I am very adamant that people should not tie a dog out and never train. My dogs are a part of my family and would not want it any other way.
