Bear

Today our 17.5 yr old cat went over to wait for us in heaven.
It had been thunderstorming and cloudy all morning. When we went to lay Bear to rest next to his brother, the sun broke out of an otherwise dark and dismal day. A ray of sunlight seemed to shine directly onto his grave. I know that was Chivas, showing Bear the way to heaven. The sunbeam lasted for about 2 minutes and then clouds closed in again. About 3 hours later, the clouds left and the sky was a wonderful pale robin's egg blue with a rim of white, billowy clouds. The sun shone so brightly, it hurt my eyes.
I know that was Bear's way of telling me he had made it to heaven and was happy. Some people scoff at such sentiments, but those where the first thoughts in my mind during both times, I know they are to be true.
Till we meet again, Mr Bear. We love you!
Bear 7/1987 to Dec 10, 2004 in the most excellent of company now.

Re: Bear

Kim and Mark,

I'm so sorry to hear about Bear. He really lived a long life and I'm sure was very well taken care of. Your post is absolutley beautiful and I for one don't scoff at your sentiments - I see/feel them the way you do. How are you and Mark holding up? Please take care of yourselves and know we're here for you.

Godspeed Sweet Bear!!!

Re: Bear

Kim and Mark -Bear must've had a wonderful life! And it can only be from the good care and love he received over those 17.5 yrs. Losing our pets is so difficult, and I'm sincerely sorry. I hope that knowing your Chivas welcomed Bear to his new home, will provide great comfort to both of you.
Take care-
kathy

Re: Bear

Kim,

I believe in those sentiments, because they happened to me too...just the way you said.

Jeff and I took our Nottweiler, Pepper, to be euthanized, one year ago this past June, at the Vet's office where I work. It had been raining and dreary all day. When we pulled into the parking lot, the clouds parted and the sun shined brightly. We were there probably close to an hour. As we were leaving the parking lot, the clouds were starting to close back in. Jeff said Heaven's Gates just opened and closed for her. She was home. That was his little girl...in her eyes, no one else existed but him. And how he missed her too...I found out later on that later that night he returned to my workplace and sat in the parking lot after hours...just to be close to her again.

Please accept my condolences for Bear. It doesn't matter if they are with us 2 years or 20. It's never easy. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Shirley

Re: Bear

So sorry you lost "Bear". 17.5 years is an incredible blessing and a lifetime of memories. I am sure this kitty will be missed terribly. But yes, he is happy.

Comfort and peace.....
