My beloved Dago is gone

I've started this post many times over the past month, but never seem to have been able to complete it. Sadly on February 14th, we had to say good bye to Dago. We found a tumor on him in November, and three operations later we still couldn't stop the cancer from spreading.

We adopted Dago from NERR back in 1999 along with a female named Amber (who is doing well, but misses Dago). I find it hard to put in words the way I felt about Dago, but it feels like a part of me died that day, and still does today. One joy that Dago brought to my life was the way he just loved tennis balls. He'd go nuts when I'd come home with a new tube of tennis balls. Sitting there wagging his little nub 'til we'd go out together in the back yard and run for the balls over and over. The simple things were his joy, a tennis ball, marrow bone or a walk.

Everyone who reads this please take a moment to go over to your Rott and give them a hug. They are truly one of God's gifts.

Ed, so sorry to hear of your loss of Dago.

It is hard to sometimes find the right words, but we all understand. You gave Dago a great home and probably the happiest years of his life.

You're in my thoughts,

Kathy

Oh man, so sorry to hear about your boy.. :(
My boy TJ is the same way about tennis balls, and while sometimes it can get annoying, I would surely miss him if he wasn't there with his slobery ball.

My condolonces to your family on his passing.

Re: My beloved Dago is gone

Sorry to hear of Dago's passing. I know he is in peace now and at a better place. Even though that sounds meaningless now because his place is not at home with you...he is whole again and pain free. I know his wings are beautiful.

I am so sorry to read this. It is a hard thing to put in words and even harder to talk about. Your Dago probably met my Lady at the bridge. Now they are both pain-free and running with the wind.

Re: My beloved Dago is gone

I'm so sorry for your loss. You struck a nerve with me, my boy LOVES the tennis balls, I have to buy them constantly, he seems to pop 'em from time to time.

Time heals all. You can never replace, but a new baby sure helps the pain when you're ready.

All my best.

Re: My beloved Dago is gone

:( Another loss...my deepest sympathies. We had a dog who had two cancer surgeries for mast cell tumors (one a stage 2 tumor). Even though she was 11 at the time of her last surgery, we decided to do everything humanely possible to help her. I understand your efforts...doing all that you can for a dear companion....clearly you loved him...

Good luck with your rescue efforts! I am sure Dago will "guide" you to the right pup!!!
