A woman that I work with recently had a small mixed breed die from a very aggressive cancer. The dogs name was "Bunny" and was almost 14 years old. A few days ago her husband Tim wrote a very touching poem tribute to the dog. I asked Pam if I could have a copy of the poem. With her permission, here it is.

It's titled "The Bun".

I loved her in the mornings
When we awoke in Bed
And if I left it up to her
She'd lick me toe to head

I loved her when we went for walks
And let her sniff around
I loved her even twice as much
When life would get me down

I loved her when she rode with us
Ears flapping in the wind
And how she'd turn and look at us
With that happy puppy grin

I loved her when she made mistakes
And pottied on the floor
Cause soon she learned to go outside
And waited at the door

I know at times it drove me nuts
To find hair everywhere
But one look from those loving eyes
And I just didn't care

I loved the way she sat with us
And backed down in between
Or how we fed her table scraps
And licked our dishes clean

I loved the way she laid by Pam
While soaking in the tub
Or how she'd turn her back to you
To give her butt a rub

I loved the way she played with me
Growling on the floor
She always knew just when to quit
Or when to play some more

I never will forget my girl
My true beloved friend
For she was much more than a pet
And I loved her to the end

I hope she knows how much she's missed
And how much love she's given
And wish eternal happines
Up in doggy heaven
