Re: Our Zitoe is gone

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. I was surprised to read the other posts of dog deaths, it's such a terrible thing. The house has felt so terribly empty since Zitoe's death. I work at home which I think will make it easier for Maya, but it'll be hard to pick up the slack of wrestling and playing. Maya has endless energy. I can tell that Maya feels like her job was dealing with Zitoe and now she's a little restless and will have to be provided with a new job.

Carib you asked what kind of food, Purina dog chow healthy morsels, but the vet said it wasn't the food or manner in which they were fed it was just a freakish kind of thing. The piece that was pulled out of her throat was not even dime sized, very small. It had been chewed some but then got lodged. She did mention that labs (Zitoe was half lab half rott, the product of someone's unplanned breeding) are prone to getting food in their wind pipes, but not usually until they are older so this could have had something to do with it, it's hard to tell.

Re: Our Zitoe is gone

Dear DivaDog, obviously there was nothing you could have done, it was just bad luck. I can't even imagine how much you must miss your girl. I just look at Roxy and think how lucky I am and try to enjoy everyday more than I did. I hope you find something like that with Maya. Hugs from...
