Ah Mary, so sorry to hear about Homer. What a touching tribute. I am happy that he is once again romping with his pal, whole and young.

I am so sorry,we have been there where you are now,but our pain has lessened some,I remember the day big Leah died I couldn't live,I didn't know how without her,it was too much to bear,Please don't get like that,,there is something and that is your family and friends who love you...and we do,Think of Homers brand new body and all the good company he is in ,and with his brother too,yup,you will fall over him often I still do...Giant heartfelt hugs,Have peace..

Wow, it's been three weeks. Some ways it seems a while, some ways it seems like five minutes ago. This has been a hard one for us. This is our sixth loss in five years, and all were ill/elderly, requiring extra care near the ends of their lives. But Homer, now he was needy his whole life! This is a dog that would get up in the middle of the night, come stick his nose in my face to make sure I was there, then trot (remember, always moving!) around to the other side of the bed and check on my husband as well. Then he'd go back to bed. And those legendary anxieties! His omnipresence in our household is sorely missed by us, and our other dogs still indicate that they know.......and it is so quiet.

Our separation from Homer marks so many firsts. Like, I knocked a black dog hair off something the other day, and then realized that, for the first time in twenty years, we don't have a black dog. :( He was *officially* our first rescue. And he'd been with us since the beginning of "us", and was the last of our first group of dogs.....he leaves a huge void.

My vet wrote me a note......"the whole family is together again. I'm sure Homer had a lot to tell them!" And we can see this, and it makes us laugh. :) We feel for our boy Jake, knowing that his peace and solitude at the bridge has ended in a dramatic fashion. It's so easy to visualize all our pals playing fetch, or some other such organized game, and then see Homer just bounding around in random circles, barking indiscriminately at any and everyone......

We thank you for your words of comfort and understanding. There has indeed been a great deal of loss here in recent weeks, and we appreciate those that have taken a moment to share sentiments with us. It helps.

And so we have sadness, but yet Homer was all about happy, so we have also many smiles...................... :)

Thanks Ana. You know we all talk about special dogs, I do too, but this one was truly unique. I wish everybody could have met him once. Homer had a singular, standout, personality. :)
