11 years wasn't long enough

April 11, 1992 - December 15, 2003

Last night we had our old labrador put down. Baloo's arthritis had gottten so bad that I thought it was cruel to make him wait any longer. It was awful. He "vocalized" for more than a minute while the drug took hold. The vet assures me that he wasn't in any pain - that some dogs just do that. I held him in my arms while he barked, and then he was quiet, and then he was gone. I stayed a little while longer and stroked his fur. I hated leaving him there on the cold table, but I know it was the right thing to do.

I'm heartbroken.

Christine,I am so very sorry you had to do this,but it was the kindest and most loving gift you could've given him,pain is an awful way to live and we want them to live so bad and try so hard to keep them with us,but that is for us,not them,you did what was right and a true test of your Love,I have had to make that decision too with my Rottie with Osteo ,I loved her so much,but to seal that Love Ihad to let him go,big Leah and Baloo and all our others are at the bridge frolicking in new bodies with no pain,everything they see is so beautiful and sweet,please have peace knowing you gave her all this ,he will visit you,keep watching for him or you will just feel his presence...He still loves you and will wait with the others betwen play times for us to come to take them into heaven with us...Big hugs,I really care honey,

Oh I am so sorry for your loss. The poor sweet old boy. Put the events at the vets out of your mind and focus on all the happy years you had with Baloo. Baloo if you see our girl Raven at the bridge tell her her mom and dad love her and miss her! Have a blast there old boy!

I've just read about your loss, and i'm so sorry. I lost Lennox on Monday night because of his arthritus, so i know exactly what you're going thru. I am sure you know in your heart that you did the right thing for Baloo. Warm wishes to you. Rest in peace, Baloo
