Unhappy Auzzie

We said good-bye to Auzzie this a.m. :( I was so hopeful he was on the right track. He even came upstairs to sleep w/me last night. But he had two pee accidents in the house this morning, the 2 nd one in the kitchen he just laid in it. I put him out on the deck and he pooped while just laying there. I realize the Pred can cause urinary accidents, but not the pooping. But then after that he jumped up, ran over to the corner of the deck to bark at a passing dog. A glimpse of our old Auzzie. But I realize a glimpse isn't enough. My husband was out of town again, but I was w/him when he received the injection. I could feel he was gone. Dr. said his heart was faintly beating, but I could feel he wasn't there I left the room. I'm glad I was w/him but I wonder if I'm ever going or get past the picture in my mind of him laying there at the end.

He was so fantastic and so missed.

Thanks to all of you for your advice, kind words and support over the last 7 weeks.

Gracie's Mom, I hope things are going well.

I too am sorry for your loss, but I know you did the right thing. I completely understand the lasting image, but try when it appears to substitute something else--have a happier memory ready to go.

I am also very sorry for your loss... I also agree, try not to hang on to the last bad image. I did that too and it made the loss harder. As much as possible think about the happy memories. Your boy is running free now and not hurting anymore.

Re: Auzzie

I'm so very sorry for the loss of your boy. Your mind knows you did the right thing even though your heart won't agree. That last image still haunts me after years. It's the most horrifying thing I've ever had to do. But my girl's always there to show me how happy she was when she was with us. I know exactly what you are going through but in time it will lessen. R.I.P. Auzzie.

Oh I'm so sorry! That last image will fade, let it go. Focus on the happy ones. Rest easy, Auzzie.

This is not an easy time for anyone. My condolences. It never seems fair that our animal companions are not blessed with the same lifespan we are.
