"I always thought you were the best,

I guess I always will.

I always felt that we were blessed,

And I feel that way still.

Sometimes we took the hard road,

But we always saw it through.

If I had only one friend left,

I'd want it to be you."

Mary, you and Nancy - two of our best - have had a week I'm sure you could both do without. He was a lovely boy. How fortunate that you had him in your life. My sincerest sympathies.

I'm very sorry for your loss. Brick was beautiful! No matter how long they're with us, it's never long enough. I'm sure Brick will be greeted by my Dina who just passed on the 8th.

God Speed, Brick!

I am so sorry to hear of another heart broken, another's eyes filling with tears at the loss of a dearly loved canine friend. Such sadness. I'm so sorry.

There truly are "best dogs" and I am sorry your boy is gone. Be assured, there will be another "best dog" in your life and having known this one hastens the recognition.

I thought this poem from Jim Willis might express how you felt too:

----------
I LOVED YOU BEST
Copyright Jim Willis 2001

So this is where we part, My Friend,
and you'll run on, around the bend,
gone from sight, but not from mind,
new pleasures there you'll surely find.

I will go on, I'll find the strength,
life measures quality, not its length.
One long embrace before you leave,
share one last look, before I grieve.

There are others, that much is true,
but they be they, and they aren't you.
And I, fair, impartial, or so I thought,
will remember well all you've taught.

Your place I'll hold, you will be missed,
the fur I stroked, the nose I kissed.
And as you journey to your final rest,
take with you this...I loved you best.
*******

Dedicated to the memory of our friend Dion's Boxer boy, "Caesar."
----------
Nancy

Mary,

I'm so sorry for your loss. Brick was beautiful and now he's free from what ever took his life here.

Your words and the words from Nancy are so appropriate and touching.

You're in my thoughts and prayers,

Kathy

Dear Mary,

Pease accept my sincere condolences for your loss of Brick. You and he were fortunate to have shared many years together, although that does not lessen the pain you feel for his passing.

Your tribute to him was very moving. You have given us all so much valuable advice on these Forums. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you. Linda

I am so very sorry for your loss. Brick is beautiful - and will live forever. I read somewhere that having a first great dog is the reason for getting the second. You still have much love to give.
