New puppy.

I am picking up my new puppy in a few weeks and I was curious what the best kibble would be to feed him. I currently feed my two adult rotties taste of the wild. I have read in some cases puppy food is bad for some dogs because it causes them to grow to quickly causing joint problems. My adult rottie has bad hips and elbows so I want to make sure the puppies diet is as close to perfect as possible (I know raw would be best), and limit his activity. So any advice would be great.

Re: New puppy.

i switched to taste of the wild prairie not to long ago for my rottie and he loves it. i was feeding him EVO Three meat for a year and he did well on it but then got tired of it so switched to TOTW and hes enjoying it. he seems to have more energy and more playful with this food as well.

Re: New puppy.

We have been feeding Blue Buffalo large breed puppy food since we got our puppy 5 months ago. He loves it and is progressing nicely. I will be switching him to either Orijen or Evo when this bag gets low. I am only switching because I am looking for a grain free as my pup seems to have mild allergies and I want to see if removing the grain from his diet will clear up his red eyes.

We also give raw one meal a day and as soon as I figure out the raw diet and feel comfortable with balancing his diet, we will switch him to 100% raw.

You are on the right track with limiting activities... I think the most important factor would be to make certain your pup's parents have had their checks and that their x-rays are good. I could be wrong (It has happened once) but I believe genetics play an important factor in HD.
