Leg Shaking

Hi

I found my big man, in my alley, when he was 4 months old.

He had a wrap on his front leg which seemed to shake quite a lot. I took him to my vet and asked that they run tests and x-rays on the little guy just to make sure he didn't have a fracture on his leg. All tests came back normal.

He is nearly 10 months now but the leg shaking is still present (not constantly). He is healthy otherwise, very active and fed canidae (he was ill when fed Iams Puppy). He loves his walks in the park (roughly 2 miles a day) but if his leg starts to shake we cut back on the distance.

The vet just puts it down to "growth spurts", I'm wondering if anyone else has come across this and has their dog grown out of it?

Re: Leg Shaking

Hmm my puppy is 3 months old and his front leg shakes as well. I had somewhat deduces that it may be a balance issue or something with unlevel ground.

Re: Leg Shaking

My pup leg shakes too, but I remember reading somewhere that this occurs when they are over concentrating mainly if they are being trained and/or taught a command.

Which seems to make sense, as I've only seen it shake during our training sessions. If this occurred during just plain walks or training sessions, I'd definitely be concerned.

See if you can figure out when this is happening. It could be that something new is occurring during the walks and your pup is trying to make sense of it.

Re: Leg Shaking

My pup's front leg will also shake or quiver if she's really intense on something. On the same note, her bottom jaw will quiver.

Does it shake during the walks or afterwards? When do you notice it?

Re: Leg Shaking

While we are on our walks we do some training, so your comments on his leg shaking during an intense or moment of concentration makes sense.

Thank you for your posts.
