How long did it take your puppy to recover from spay? It's been a while since I had a puppy spayed. Zo has been recovering for a week now and her stitches look good but she doesn't get them removed until Monday. She's going nuts and I'm really worried that she'll pop a stitch since she's been cooped up for so long (except for walks). How long did it take your puppy to heal up enough that you didn't have to worry about the stitches coming out? (They did a double layer stitching, internal and external, because of her "exuberant" personality.)

Re: How long did it take your puppy to recover from spay? THey heal fast...mine wanted to race around and horseplay about 1 week out, but was ready for very short walks within 3 days. I would walk mine for short walks where I was sure she would not get distracted. What does your Vet recommend?

Re: How long did it take your puppy to recover from spay? The vet is saying 10-14 days but I think he's being really conservative. Zooey is bouncing off of the walls and it looks like she's pretty healed up after almost 8 days. We are out of pain meds as of this morning so we're looking at a rough weekend unless she can have some decent energy outlets.

| Re: How long did it take your puppy to recover from spay? I would be careful for the entire 14 days. Even if the outside has healed...they cut through a lot of inside stuff! Nisha was (still is) a wild child as well. We did extra long walks...you can go as long as you want (within reason) as long as she isn't over-exerting herself. Also...try training, it helps wear out their minds ! The hardest part about the spay is keeping them calm! Oh...and stock up on knuckle bones !

Re: How long did it take your puppy to recover from spay? Forget the pain medication...a little discomfort will help slow your girl down. I had my Delilah on pain medication for the first day only. Trust me...your girl will be fully recovered before you know...good luck.
