mess at night

Having 'broken the back' of most accidents by day aged 7 months (other than when leave her in for some time); stillcomming down in the mornings to pools of pee and poo. And not just one pee !

Do let her out before bed.

Any advice as to control this please ?

Post Re: mess at night

Start right back from the beginning like she is a wee puppy. Your pup is not house trained yet, and something has gone very wrong with her training.

What is her schedule like? How often are you taking her outside? How often are you feeding her? When is her last meal for the day? When is her last pee/poop for the night before bed?

Is she crated? If not, buy a crate and start teaching her to be in it.

Has she been wormed? What food is she fed? Sometimes worms and/or a food heavy in grains will make them poop much more often.

Start taking her out every 2 hours...and praise when she goes. I suspect she is given the run of the house and is using your home as her latrine....too much freedom for such a young dog.

Re: mess at night

When you crate her at night, make sure you pick a corectly sized crate. One that's too roomy, just like free access, will give her places she can use as an indoor potty area.

Some pups just find indoor potty areas very convenient. The pup might still be quite tired and it's just easier to pee or poop somewhere inside and then go back to sleep than to try to wake a human. It can become habit very easily and a dog with the habit of looking for an inside potty area really needs the right sized crate until they really understand the whole housebreaking thing.

Re: mess at night

If you're sure your girl has none of the issues brunie's mom raised in her post, your young dog may is probably not housetrained.

I suggest you brush up on housetraining and start all over again with housetraining.

I know people in your country aren't as big fans of crate training as we are here in the States, but you might think about crate training your girl to help with her housetraining.
