1st class of basic obedience I took Sasha to her first class on tuesday. It went well the trainer used her as an example several times and she would do anything for treats and even with the distractions she focused on me nd treats. I did have a small concern though as we we leaving the class she vomitted and it consisted mostly treats. none of the other dogs got sick there at least should this be a big concern for me or should i just ask the trainer to use my treats instead of mixing them? any1 else have similar issues. she also had a slight case of diarhia later tht night.

Re: 1st class of basic obedience She was probably on treat and excitement overload and that made her hurl. I wouldn't worry too much about it, especially if she wanted to gobble them all back up. You can help by making each treat very tiny, like the size of a pencil eraser so she won't get so much in volume. What kind of treats are you using?

Re: 1st class of basic obedience I agree with moondog; sensory overload; first class and all... Pencil eraser size is perfect. Go in your local store and tell them you need treats for class. They'll help you find some good ones to use. If the timing works you can maybe try to delay breakfast or dinner until after class. Ours is in the morning so we skip most of breakfast. They are more attentive that way. I wonder why?? I swear she has a hole in her leg the way my girl eats!!Good luck & keep us posted! Ailee

Re: 1st class of basic obedience I agree with the sensory overload. When I first started with classes at 12 weeks my girls would work for kibble, which was the perfect size and was exactly what she was used to. Now I mix it up with a tiny bit of cheese now and again so she never knows what she's going to get, especially for extra good behavior.

Re: 1st class of basic obedience I have freeze dried liver training treats that she loves. I do use other things like cheese and small pieces of meat when home but only the training treats at class. Thanks for all your reassurance glad to hear i shouldnt get too worried
