How do you find ticks on a black dog?

Zo is on Frontline Plus but we have huge tick problems here and usually pick them off of our dogs before they bite. Is there a trick to finding them in black fur before they lodge? Can you see them with a flashlight or some other kind of light?

ticks can range in size from a tiny spider looking thing to a grape engorged one!
run a fine tooth comb slowly over dog or as you pet/massage your dog look for bumps, scabs,tell-tell signs for ticks.
especially look between toes, ears and underarms.
use tweezers to remove them and wash your hands when done.

Re: How do you find ticks on a black dog?

We had a lot of ticks where we lived in Ontario. We made a habit of checking the dog every night by carefully running our hands over the whole dog, and visually checking ears and toes. I found most of the ticks hiding in Pepsi's eyebrows and on her snout. I wish I knew then that there is a comb for this!
