It is called coprophagia and all dogs do it sometimes. it is less likely that they eat their own poop, but as my vet once told me: "no self respecting dog would walk by cat poop without eating it." there are lots of reasons. maybe they aren't getting fed enough, or more importantly they aren't getting the nutrients that they need in their food. what are you feeding her? it is also a behavioral thing that they will do out of boredom if left out in the backyard too long. some dogs will "clean up after themselves" when they go in the house, which makes you think twice about letting them lick you in the face. : ) the worst is when they eat too much of it and then puke it up.

i used to have this problem with my dachshund. i tried a pill called "potty mouth" that didn't work and made him sick as can be. what finally seemed to do the trick was an approach that was relatively easy.
1) i make a sweep of the backyard with the pooper scooper twice a day.
2) make sure that he is well excercised and not just doing stupid crap out of boredom
3) began sprinkling meat tenderizer on all of his (and the other dogs who live here) meals.
there is something about meat tenderizer that happens during the digestive process that makes dogs not like it.
4) switched dog food to a premium, human-grade food that supplied all of the nutrients they all need, so that no one is intrinsically driven to eat poop just out of physiological necessity.

i don't know, man. my 8 week old rot won't quit eating rocks and clods of dirt, so maybe eating poo would be a step up. at least i wouldn't have to chase her around and worry about her choking on it : )
it's normal and she'll get over it. just make sure and correct her for doing it and maybe do a couple of the things i listed above.
