| Max will be 5 months on the 22nd of April (my, how they grow so fast :( ), and I was wondering if I'm giving him enough exercise or too much. He is crated during the day while my husband and I are at work, with the exception of 2 potty outings during 8 and 5. (My husband is home for an hour for lunch, which Max is out for that hour). After 5 he is out of his crate until bed. He runs and plays in the house and for the last week or so (thank goodness for warmer weather) we have been walking at our campus pond (four times around is a mile.) He gets slower after about two times around so that's all we've been doing for the time being. Then of course he comes home, plays a little more, then is ready for bed about 9:30. He doesn't really like to play in the yard much, hasn't been real warm up until lately and when he is out to go potty he is on a leash still, so he hasn't gotten full use of the yard. Tried to play ball with him in the yard, but he would rather eat grass and leaves. He loves car rides and taking walks. Just wondering if I'm giving my little guy the exercise he needs. Help me out with some suggestions. Thanks everyone. This site is so helpful. :) |

| Re: How much exercise for 5 month old? at this age, i let the puppy be a puppy. play some ball, walk until he shows wear, swim is good, obedience play training is fine. just do not over do it. his growth plates are still open and growing. sounds like you are doing all right. just stop when pup is showing wear on his walk. once or twice around maximum around the pond sounds like his limit for now.
