Re: 8 week old resists leash mine (9 weeks) does the same but I give the leash a gentle nudge and say come , when he moves we go straight inside. Or you can follow the advise given above and use treats to lure him etc. etc. Also maybe he's not finished with his business yet , I know that happend to me the other day and he had an accident inside .

Re: 8 week old resists leash I guess I got lucky with Ezabell. She never hadthis problem with her leash. Boscoe , on the other hand, was a complete different story. I put his leash on him, walked to the far side of the drive and laid down. Called him with an excited voice and he came over and gave me kisses. Never had a problem after that. I guess its like feeding a baby by using the "airplane" trick. Make it fun.

Re: 8 week old resists leash My 10 week old won't walk with us on or off the leash unless we walk to the top of the street. She's very hisitant to leave the yard. We've tried treats, but she doesn't care. She just sits and plants her front paws. She's a very lazy pup and I'm afraid I'll never get her to walk with us. Any suggestions?

| Re: 8 week old resists leash Just try making it fun. Have her walk 'with' you around your yard, priase her and give her treats as you walk together - no leash. Get a very light weight leash and attach it to her collar and let her walk around with it trailing behind her (she must be under constant supervision during this exercise so she doesn't get caught). Walk along side her again with treats and praise. Attach the leash hold onto it and walk in front of her, only as long as the leash, facing her get down low and call her to you, praise praise praise and treats. If she can do this try teaching her to sit directly in front you, that way whenever you call her she will come to you and sit at your feet. Good luck! Trina

Re: 8 week old resists leash When Taser was really young we used two people to "walk" him on a leash. One person would hold the leash while the other went a ways away with a favorite treat or toy and called to him to come. If only one person was available we would hold the leash with lots of give...not taut in the least... and roll a ball downhill on the path. That worked amazingly well...until a leaf blew by... or a pebble rolled...

Re: 8 week old resists leash I'm having a problem with my 14 week old pup. I put him on his leash to go potty, and to go on walks. So when we put it on by the front door he does fine, he sits for me and behaves. But right as I get finished putting the collar and leash on, and going for the door he just lies down. He plants himself and even a gentle nudge doesn't get him going. I'm trying treats, and that's helped, but shouldn't he WANT to go on walks?
