Strange Growth Spurts

Hi, let me first state that I have no problem with my dog's size, but am just curious about this...

When I got him at 8 weeks he was 6.4 pounds. At 12 weeks he was 13 pounds. So seemingly much under typical weights.

Then after that he went on huge growth spurts where he was gaining 18 pounds a month, and overall gaining weight really well. To when he was 8.3 months old and weighed 75 pounds. Seemingly right where he should be among typical weights.

He is now over 10 months old and still weighs 75 pounds.

He has been to the vet recently and is healthy, the only thing being he has an undescended testicle.

Now I know how dog's weight are dependent on their genetics, parents, food, exercise, etc...and I have never done anything to try and make him gain weight when he was tiny nor do anything to make him slow down when he was gaining weight rapidly because like I said at the beginning I'll love him no matter what his weight is.

So my question ISN't why he weighs as much as he does but just has anyone ever heard or dealt with these weird types of weight gains? And can the undescended testicle have anything to do with it? And I know by searching that someone posted a post about their dog stop growing at 6 months, but I never heard how that dog has been doing recently.

At 10 months of age, he is still going to grow and gain weight...it will be slower now...but he still has filling in to do. He may gain another 15-20 lbs still.

As for the undescended testicle...I really don't think that would make much difference in his growth. He will have to have that testicle surgically removed when he is neutered...or the testicle may turn cancerous.

How big were his sire and dam? Have you notified your breeder about the undescended testicle....this is genetic.
