Cranky baby at night

Hey guys.

Same pup ... and she doesnt' live with me, I have weekend visitation lol ... but apparently she gets snarky at night - growls, bites hands, etc.

Ideas on that? I wonder if it's cranky baby stuff and she should go in her crate? Does it require correction? How do you correct youngsters for biting? I have a lab - you can hand them a rawhide and good to go lol

Re: Cranky baby at night

She is probably tired; I remember reading a few days ago that many puppies get "testy" when its nap time . I will try to find the thread. It said something about them being over-stimulated, and needing a "break".

Re: Cranky baby at night

When it comes to the puppy biting, redirection is the way to go. When mine were young, I redirected them to a chilly bone. It's something I bought at PetsMart, made out of cloth, that you run under water and then freeze.

There was something about the cold that must've felt good on their gums because it kept my dogs' attention more than just a toy.

Other people use the same concept, but use a washcloth.

ETA: Nishasmom, here's the thread I think you're talking about.
